What Is The True Skinny On The New 4473?

Anyone heard anything OFFICIAL? All I have is second-hand information and rumors. It would seem reasonable to just use the old forms until the new ones become available. I know that government agencies are seldom reasonable, but can an oversight on their part * thousands of businesses?I am not in a critical mess, but I do have three transfer rifles waiting to be picked up and no new forms.

nunn --Admin posted the following a few days ago on this very board. It's back on about page 5 now:Attention FFL Holders: If you are having problems getting the new Form 4473 or have run out, this is your solution. The following information is copied directly from the ATF web site regarding the new Form 4473:You may download the attached ATF Form 4473. FFLs have temporary approval to use photocopies of the 10/2001 version of the original ATF For 4473 Part I, including instructions, until such time as you receive a supply of original forms, or until April 20, 2002, whichever occurs first. When using a photocopy of the new 4473, you must provide your nonlicensed firearms customers with both the form and its instructions while they complete the form. The completed forms AND instruction sheets must be retained in your records for the time period specified in 27 CFR 178.129.Click on 'ATF Form 4473' underlined in the paragraph above to view a copy of the form. You can print it right from your browser. You need to have Adobe Acrobat reader installed to view or print the document. Click on the graphic below if you need to download a free copy of the Acrobat reader.[This message has been edited by admin (edited 02-21-2002).]
