before it got poofed(?) i had asked about others experience on wait time hearing from sellers.
all worked out but it is funny.
i acted as bidder for a friend of the family who doesnt have internet.
he saw a mossberg mariner and said "THATS EXACTLY WHAT IM LOOKING FOR!"
after stareing at it for half an hour, looking at a few other items, back to the mossberg...
"can you make a bid on it for me?"
me "sure, what do you want to make your top bid?"
"$75"
me "huh!?!?"
looked at the top of the page, pic of the mariner for sure, opening bid $70.99 told him that doesnt seem right, should be a LOT higher than that, but figured wth and made the bid.
finally got word from the seller and no request for ffl!?
e-mail back, "are you sure this can be shipped direct?"

went back and looked CLOSELY at the ENTIRE sale page...

Lacking a better look at this ammo, I cannot make a definitive identification, but I would caution that this may not be quite as absurd as it might appear on the surface. The military experimented w/ teflon *coated* ammo circa 1956. In the late 70s, an outfit named KTW produced a line of ammo w/ teflon *coated* bullets w/ alleged AP capabilities. There were seven handgun calibers + .30 Carbine. They were theoretically a LEO only item and production essentially ceased when the 'cop killer bullet' BS erupted. It could be these 5.56 are another iteration of that theme. Another possibility is that the projectiles may be Nosler or similar plastic tip bullets which have been mis-identified, intentionally or ignorantly.
