MRI results

I have been experiencing a lot of pain in my lower back & right hip lately from a service connected injury back in 1989. I can't stand, sit, lay down, drive my truck or rest without having severe pain.
Ironically the only position that I find that doesn't cause me pain is when I am riding the Harley...[:D]
This morning I went to Physical Therapy at near by Fort Drum and they gave me a TENS unit. The Doctor there also had the results of an MRI that I had at the VA Center in Syracuse last week. Apparently the MRI showed some small bulge in various disc, but it also found a large protrusion at my L3-L4 disc that is causing pressure on my right nerve root.[V]
I could have told them there was more then they expected 22 years ago when I first injured my back, but the VA was side stepping giving me any aid back then. Now they want me to come in and consult with a Neuro Surgeon. I accepted their consult, and will put it in Gods hands to deliver me out of this mess now.[B)]

I'm going for a second and third opinion before surgery though.
God bless.
What did the surgery consist of, and how long were you down & out recuperating afterwards?

Thanks, that was very informative.
Sooeyman2035,
I know all about the VA, they own me![;)]
I am a 30% disabled Veteran, and this injury is service connected, so anything I do will be with their blessing since in the long run they will be the ones writing the check.[^]

When your wheels give out you can't rock and roll. You can only rock.
The VA is not your friend!
As a VA doc I will disagree
Depends on the doc
But so far here my vets get better and quicker care than when I was in private practice.
Depends on the doc more than anything as near as I can tell.
