Iam thinking about getting a YHM can in 5.56 or 7.62 and was looking for info on the wait time.

Ive always heard 6 months.
Lately I have been hearing 12-15 months, the ATF dragging their feet just casue they can I guess.

I heard about some e-file system speeding things up.

Has anyone gone through this lately and can say what time frame we are looking at now?

E-file was working but has been suspended for some reason
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

I waited 9 months but sent the wrong form , Don't use the form you can download from the internet, it must be the 2 sided form - not 2 pages.

Do you have any other tax stamps? If not, do you believe being in Florida would have anything to do with the delay? That's not a dig, I'm honestly curious if delays are more based on certain states than the BATF. [;)]

This one is my first can, I have no idea what the deal is.
Lou's police supply a class III dealer tells me that a six month
wait is the average here with some up 9 months, also they
tell me the reason is the fed's are swamp, with cans getting
more and more popular, so dun know.

Not sure about other places but now that you can hunt in Oklahoma with a silencer the back log may have grown a bit. [8D]
Just smile and say nothing, let them guess how much you know.

I have a couple of others, not efile or trust... Regular filing... I waited 12 months, getting my suppressor last month.

Whatever it is, it's too long, and the $200 for each is ridiculous too. Both reasons why I still don't have any.

No matter how you apply, there is no fast way to get it done. Plan for 9-10 months.

My check was cashed for SBR and Suppressor on 08/03/13 and I am still waiting. Last time I called they said there was an exception on the Suppressor, maybe the check bounced bounced. I noted that would be odd since both Taxes were paid on the same check and I have the cancelled check (copy of). She said OK. And that's all she had to offer.

So May 3 is 9 months for me. I would like to think it is getting closer.

There is a seller , frank something on the auction side says he can ge them done in weeks and he is full of poop trying to get people to buy the guns. No one is getting processed in less than 8 months.

    It took mine 11 months.

    Sent form 4 on DEC 21 2012

    Check cashed Jan 7 2013

Approved and picked up Nov 2013

I had plans of getting more cans, but I hate having my money tied up for that long, so I'm on hold 'till Holder goes to hell.[:)]

Holder isn't the problem, the problem is they are overloaded with legalized hunting with suppressor laws.

They have contractors processing a portion of the Form 4's. It's just a crunch time.

Sooner you get in the sooner it gets back. Waiting does nothing but drag out the agony.

you appear to know more about this than I do, since I've only been through it once, and I appreciate your advise, but I still say the world would be a better place if Holder would go away.

Holder isn't the NFA problem, this was here way before he disgraced his office.

But... You are right, he needs to go. No doubt. I am sorry if you thought I was defending him.

I am no expert, but I have 3 suppressors and waiting on the 4th and my first SBR. After that I hope to be adding a stamp for a machine gun to the collection. Maybe 2 if I find a deal on a 1919a4

    Talked to local shop.

They said e-file is down until further notice.

    From what i found out......
    9-12 on paper
    4-7 e-file

And only a handfull of people doing the paperwork, like 15 people, and a backlog of 60,000.

Its really bullcrap that I can borrow hundreds of thousands of dollars to buy a house, car, boat, airplane in under 30 days but a suppressor takes 6+ months, heck the ok to buy a gun takes 5min.

Bought a suppressor back in October, have heard nothing. They did cash my $200.00 check though.
