Put Walmart on the list

Went to Walmart today, went to the gun section to see about ammunition prices. No guns on the rack, ammo section was locked up like a fortress. Sign was hung where guns are usually displayed; "NO GUN OR AMMO SALES UNITL FURTHER NOTICE". I waited around for some help, and when it finally arrived I asked the clerk what happend to all of the guns."Well they are not going to be sold for awhile, because of all that is going on""Well dont you think, with all that is going on, that people should have access to buying guns and ammo, in case it gets worse?""Well we dont want people coming in and buying guns, and then goingout and shooting! Its for safety.""I do not think it is safe to deny people firearms when the country is in turmoil. I think that is very dangerous. Dont you have to go through a background check anyway? So why the need to deny the citizens a way to protect themselves""Well there is no check for ammo, we do not want people walking in, buying a box of ammo, and then shooting.""Well, you have the ammo still on display, wouldnt you think that if someone was going to do that, they would come in here and just steal the ammo? I mean, if you are so concerned that they might use the ammo for illegul purposes, I would think it is pretty neglifgent for you to leave ammo out so criminals could steal it!""Sir(now he is getting a bit testy), they are doing it to protect you.""Thanks but I do not need protection. I have a shotgun in my trunk, and I always carry a pistol wherever I go(Probably should not have said that, but I did)"I informed him I would no longer purchase anything from Walmart, because Walmart has decided to let me die, if it goes down, because they would not allow me the chance to defend myself. I informed them I would communicate walmarts policy to thousands of gun owners.I walked away, but the lady behind me then asked the guy"You are not selling guns" He went on with the same speel, and she said, "No thats good, why take a chance?"I walked up to her and said, "I wonder how good that policy would be if the terrorists arrived in your neighborhood, and you wanted to get a gun to protect yourself.""Like that is going to happen.""Yeah, if someone told you a week ago the world trade center would be blown to smithereeens, and the pentagon would be attacked, you probaly would have said'Yeah like that is going to happen'"

Well, I guess if we ever do have to defend ourselves against a domestic attack (that isn't a guerilla attack like the other day's terror) you'll have to tell people like them to go get their OWN firearms for protection. Oh, wait, there won't be any available then... sorry, too bad, I guess we were right after all.

What do think, that we're all going to go out and buy guns on the spur of the moment and go hunting arabs. Anyone who would do that already has all the guns they would need. Walmart or KMart or anyone else that locks up the guns and ammo in a situation like this is making just a completely stupid and useless gesture. I will not buy from either of them ever again and I recommend that no one else does either. Also, send both of them email and/or letters telling them so and why.

I just emailed Wal-Mart corporate and asked them if it is a company policy or a local store manager policy and told them that if its a company policy, they should be ashamed of themselves and if its a local store manager policy, then they should call all their store managers and "get them in line". I also told them that as far as I'm concerned, the damage is already done and I will not be shopping at Wal-Mart again and that I would recommend the same to all family, friends and acquaintances who feel the same way about American Citizens gun rights.

Yo Salzo.....Must be local. I've been in three local Wally's (Martinsburg, WV, Charles Town, WV, and Winchester, VA) and they've got people manning the gun counter and doing business.Mudge

Our Wal Mart still have guns & ammo for sale, but the clerk said they had to remove all knives, guns and ammo to their security storage facility every night. He complained the night clerk has it easy, but when he comes in in the A.M., he has to restock everything in its correct location. Not a happy trooper.

Did they also stop sales on all razorblades, box cutters, plastic knifes, and Microsoft Flight Simulator also?I don't recalls guns being used in any of this.

WalMart here everything was the same as always. Then again except for the influx of some people from other states running to get away from the crowds and gangs (and bringing their mentality with them) this is a gun state pure and simple. We have guns, we have ammo - only thing I'd go get at Wallyworld would be 9mm -it's been on sale and has been as cheap as it has been online when you add shipping and handling.

My local WalMart in politically correct Amherst, NH removed the guns from the rack at 8 AM on 9/12, and returned them at 8 AM on 9/14. Ammo sales continued as normal, and the clerk in charge mumbled something about it being a company policy, then further dug a hole when he said the feds asked them to do this. I interjected, and asked him that since our government and WalMart was so interested in the preservation of it's citizens, could he please direct me to where the gas masks were stored. Needless to say, I made no friends.

It seems to me that if Wal*Mart as a corporation makes the statement of..."Well we dont want people coming in and buying guns, and then going out and shooting! Its for safety..." then they should not sell guns at all...ever! You're absolutely right that background checks have been put into place for purchases such as these. For them to close sales on firearms, if even temporarily, is another example of absolute hypocrasy. Did all the gun shops shut down? I don't think so. My attitude about Wal*Mart has taken an immediate turn for the worse...and it wasn't good before. Thanks for the info.
