4000FPS - The Book

I have discovered that this new endeavor delivers up a lot more work that I thought. The act of putting the story down on paper (actually on a computer display) as it was given to me was frightfully easy. The 117 thousand words were delivered in only 17 weeks of part time writing. Now I have to sit and edit those four hundred pages and being the stickler I am for detail, it's taking a long time. And it's boring. I have given 8 copies of the manuscript to people I can trust to be honest (that excludes, of course, my mother, who thinks it's perfect). When they come back with their appraisals I will decide if it is worth publishing, certainly not a given in my mind. This whole project came from a thread started a long time ago on this board. In that thread we were trading stories about our childhood and repeating stories our parents, especially our fathers, had told us. Someone, I think TimberBeast, suggested we write some of these down for our children. I wrote one about a camping trip that seemed to be well received and that got me going. It was, by the way, one of those silly stories that our moderator deep-sixed because one of my characters said "I don't need this *", only I used the American version of the word instead of this English one. The parable visits the injustice of being ruled by a rogue and having no recourse. Most frustrating.Thank you sincerely for your interest in the book, it is most flattering and good for my ego.Clouder..

I'm about half done with the fourth draft of the first book. The first hundred or so pages stuttered in spots so I've pared about 5000 words. I have four copies out to people whom I respect for their forthrightness and one to a person who simply asked to read it. They are members of this and Matthew's board. When I get their comments back I will have a fair idea of the potential for publishing success. The second book is well on the way, some 20,000 words down so far. I am having more fun with the second than the first if that's possible. Finding an agent or editor will be the next challenge. All else failing, I have had the pleasure of creating new life in a literary sense. That can not be taken away. Your interest if sincerely appreciated.Clouder..

Clouder from the title it sounds like ballistics, but I am guessing from the body of your post you are writing fiction. Mystery? A pal for Bob Lee Swagger? I will look forward to seeing it published, I am an insatiable reader.

Hey Clouder, you sent copies to someone from my board and not to me? Not to sound selfish, but I'm interested in reading it too. I thought that I expressed interest a while back, maybe it was taken in jest ... if you are still looking for another reader, consider me anytime.
