Need Atlas Lathe Parts Info

Was wondering if anyone had a good place to buy Atlas Lathe parts. A while back I had a 618 and bought what I needed from Blue Ridge but was wondering what else was out there. Any info would be appreciated.

I realize the Atlas/Craftsman is not cream of the crop but could hardly pass up this estate auction deal. Commercial 12x36 with 3 chucks, steady and follow rest, milling attachment with drawbar and several end mills and woodruff cutters, Atlas # 100 armature chuck like new(anyone need one of these??),10" faceplate, carriage and cross slide micrometer stops, 3 tool holders, cutoff and knurling tools, live centers, boring tools, many smaller miscellaneous tooling and even some stuff that a lathe challenged individual like myself has no idea what it is. Bed has some wear but not bad with overall condition about 80-85%. All this for a total with tax of $636.00. Oh, and also factory cabinet.

Thanks in advance for any help. Have a great day.

Powdersmoke-I am not a machinist but did stay at a Holiday INN Express last night. Not trying to be a smartass just cute. I always wanted to be a machinist but couldn't look into the future when I was a youngster. I just tinker. Had bought the 618 about 7 yrs back and then a soso gunsmith went to cabinet building because of all the new laws so sold me his Prescion lathe(Harbor Freight special)and all his reamers etc. I had to quit work about 3 1/2 yrs ago because of a real bad heart(have a pacer and prosthetic mitral valve)so I did not have a heated place to keep them so sold the whole works. Sure wish I wouldn't have been in such a big hurry selling the reamers. The Prescion Lathe was not very accurate in my unprofessional opinion. Just thought I need another and this deal came along and I have a heated place to put it now. It just makes me feel so Professional having a lathe setting in my reloading space.

Dongizmo-I pulled the carriage off yesterday to look things over and also the handwheel to move the carriage had some play. The shaft has about .002 taper and bushing is worn some so thought I would see if I could get a new bushing and maybe replace halfnuts if not to expensive and since I had it apart. Would you have the bushing???

Thanks for the inquiries. Good day.

Whirlwind, sounds like you got a pretty decent deal. Now be careful. If you do not know anything about machining and wanted to be a machinist that is dangerous. Take a local class on basics. I am a retired aerospace machinist. Always wanted to be a pilot, but never just jumped in the cockpit and took up the plane.

    SD,
We don't sell any Atlas parts, follow the link I posted above and they should sell you what you need, we only sell "after market" accessories, tool posts, cutting tools, DRO's etc.

Thanks everyone for the info and concerns. Found a bushing down town from a alternator/starter repair shop that was 1/8" longer so it worked real well as the unworn part of the shaft is now supported so tightened things up real good. All I had to do was cut an oil hole in the bushing and bingo. When I get things together and running I will make an undersized bushing and when it gets loose I will turn the shaft a 1/16 under and fit to the bushing(providing I can find the bushing when I need it!!!! Could have done it now but didn't want to put everything back together and try to run carriage by hand and then tear down again to reassemble.

Not a professional machinist by any means(not even close) but have 60-70 hrs on running a lathe so know the basics. Thanks again everyone for info etc.
