What steps would I have to to if I wanted to buy a Class III machine gun? And make it legal? I dont know if this will help, but I live in Texas.[This message has been edited by Gene B. (edited 10-09-2001).]

Probably a good chance, living in TEXAS. I live in Florida, and bought one from a guy out there. He made a few mistakes (very minor ones) in the transfer, but ATF still let it go. 1) Find the gun of your dreams.2)find a gun you can afford3)forget the first one.4)If the gun is in Texas, submit the forms to atf to make a transfer to you from the owner.5)If the gun is out of state, find a transfer dealer in Texas to transfer the gun, dealer to dealer, have the owner transfer it to the dealer in his(or her) state, have the dealer transfer it to the dealer in your state. When it arrives at the Texas dealer, start the paperwork to transfer it to your name. Now, before you do all this, just find a class III dealer, talk to him to find out what you need to do. Then go talk to the Sherrif in the county in which you live. If he is not willing to sign for you to have the gun, your going to run into big problems down the road. ATF will not approve paperwork without the signature of a Cleo, judge, district attorney, or maybe one other. In the county I used to live, it was a major deal. Nobody would sign, so nobody could buy them. Only people that have them, have had them for years. Good luck. Sandman2234
