    F : Price of Firearm P : State Tax Percentage(If Applicable)T : FFL Transfer Fee
    Total = F + (F*P) + T

    You should be able to find the tax on your search engine. Type Texas state sales tax and see what you get.

    Something here does not make sense. GeneB, you don't know the sales tax for your state? If you are talking about buying on line from a dealer or auction, you should only have to pay the FFL you use for the transfer the sales tax on his/her fee. There should be no tax on the gun transaction, unless the seller is also in Texas.shipping generally ranges from $10 to $25 and FFL's usually charge from $10 to $35 to handle the transfer.[This message has been edited by He Dog (edited 01-22-2002).][This message has been edited by He Dog (edited 01-22-2002).]

    Well,...it's not something I'd usually say, but here goes: "I buy a gun for $600, about how much would it cost with all the tax and fees and stuff??"I don't know what purpose that served, but I'm always glad to help out.

    So what your saying is If I buy it online, all I have to pay is Shipping fees, and the ffl dealer, which would be about $50??

    The cost of shipping should be listed on the auction. If it is not, don't bid until you have emailed the seller. I have seen where people up the freight to cover a loss in auction price. The ffl price is something that you should check into before bidding. Here in Jax,Fl. we have them that do it for nothing, some at $10., some for $15., alot for $20.or $25. and one I know of that charges $50. There is also one that charges 20% of the selling price. And he makes you prove what you paid for it. Needless to say they don't get too much business. The last 2 guys figure if they charge more for internet guns, then people won't buy them, and will buy the guns from them. What actually happens is people quit buying any of his guns, because they quit going in the store, since they have to get them shipped to somebody else to save money. The guy that does it for nothing (to regular customers) can't keep handguns in his case and sometimes has a shortage of longguns. Mainly because people know that if they are regulars, and buy his guns, then they get to bring all their internet guns in for nothing. He doesn't tell you what it takes to be a regular, you just have to buy a gun every now and then.(or something, he has a pawnbrokers license) Plus, if you walk into the store and he has a gun you have been looking for, you can put your paws on it to see how it feels. Everybody knows how nice it is to be touchy-feely with a gun. Beats looking at a picture to see if it fits.
