Tampa, Florida-AP -- A performer called the "human cannonball" has been seriously injured at the Florida State Fair.Family members say Ermes Zamperla (ER'-mes zam-PUR'-lah) flew past his target yesterday after being launched from a spring-loaded cannon.They say he overshot an inflatable cushion by 25 feet, landed on his feet, and then, carried by his momentum, crashed head-first into a temporary fence made of fiberglass.He was flown by a helicopter to Tampa General Hospital, where he was treated for head injuries and broken bones.Officials say the injuries are not life-threatening.The Sarasota man has been doing human cannonball shows around the country for more than 20 years as part of the Zamperla Thrill Circus.
