Public Land Blues

I have several thousand acres of public land that borders mine, I hunt there every year and always have good luck. During the summer there is a "group" of people that ride their dirt bikes and atv's on the land, this is against the law, however its overlooked and usually they know to keep out during hunting season. That being said here's how this year has been. Muzzloader season Im sittin in my stand minding my own business and guess what out of the woods comes a man with a very small child riding a atv. I let them pass as they didn't even see me. They where wearing white t-shirts etc. Today A group of us hunters met up and went our own ways when all of a sudden a group of idiots comes blarring though the woods chasing deer with their dirt bikes and Atv's. I was p$#)(** to say the least. I watched them for a while deciding on what to do! Do I call the law, na because I take my atv down to drag out deer etc. I took off my orange and waited until they were "real close" and lit up a tree with my 25-06. I have never seen atv's and dirt bikes run so fast in all my life. Hope they dont come back either!! I know this wasn't the proper thing to do however I think I got my message accross. Just Venting

GN, to my way of thinking, you probably did them - and all hunters - a service. There are those w/ less intelligence and restraint that might have done worse, to the detriment of all interested parties. Outside of their dirty underwear, no harm resulted and hopefully they learned a lesson. To whom will they complain, BTW? "We were out chasing wildlife in an area where it's illegal for us to take motorized vehicles and someone frightened us when they fired shots that struck trees near us." I don't think so. Well done.
