If you were going to carry two pistols, would you choose the same caliber or a different caliber?

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

If at all possible. But, there are alot of factors to consider. What gun you feel the most comforatable with, concealability factor (I think I just made up a new word ), etc.

You could take it a step further and get a pair of Glocks like the G22 and G27 (.40 s&w). The G22 (fullsize) mags will fit in the G27 (compact). So not only do you have the same cal., but you also have the ability to use the same mags in your backup as you do in your primary.

I like the idea of having all the mags fit both guns, so I vote for the same caliber guns. Like a Sig P220 with a Sig P245 as a backup. Both excellent guns in a potent .45 cal.

Glock model 17 and Glock model 26.
    or
    Para-Ordnance P12-45 and AMT .45 Backup

I've carried both those combinations in the past.

I'm partial to the two Glock scenerio.

No. I carry a .40 and a .380. I don't figure to need the little gun unless I lose the big one, and then sharing ammo won't be an issue.

Anything can happen, but I don't think I will go through all 46 rounds through my glock 22.I hope I never need my backup on my person, but it is a nice airweight .38 hammerless with +p rounds. I tried the glock 27, but it was too heavy and bounced around too much. The real backup is in the trunk.

Just curious, why would a non LEO carry a back up piece? I have been carrying a gun for 45 years both as LEO and civilian. I suppose, I've just been lucky living in NJ (a state with one of the highest crime rates in the country)that I have never had occasion to fire any rounds off-duty or as a civilian.

Are there any legal ramifications to carrying multiple firearms?
