Unbelieveable...A Must Read For Everyone...

I'm an avid player of the computer video game, Ghost Recon and it's update, Desert Siege.
In the game, the timeframe is 2008 and you're the leader of a platoon of Green Berets who's mission is to wipe up terrorist activity in foreign countrys and stop the Russians from swallowing up all her surrounding countrys.
Well, in addition to the regular game, there are programs known as "Mods" that can be downloaded and addded to your game to increase realism. Each "Mod" has it's own purpose. "Bob's UZI Mod" might add the UZI sub gun to the list of weapons you're allowed to choose from. "Dave's Arctic Camo Mod" might give you the ability to outfit your crew in Arctic Camo, and so on and so forth.
Well, there's a Mod called Gunslinger's Realism Mod version 4, or GRM4 that I enjoy playing, since it adds every weapon to your inventory that has been used by any major world power in the past 25 years. Pretty cool stuff!
Well, I'd heard through gaming channels that there was an updated version, GRM6 available for download on www.ghostrecon.net that added some more weapons and "enemies".
"Sweet!", I said. I downloaded the Mod and installed it on my computer.
I loaded up my favorite level and decided to give the new MAC-10 a workout on my favorite Middle Eastern tangos.
Well, once I loaded the level and snuck up behind my first bad guy, I lined up the front sight with the back of his head and popped off a burst. The fellas head came apart like a ripe melon.
"Nice!", I thought...until the kill confirmation came up on the screen that stated:
"Congratulations! You have neutralized a Militia Patriot!"
What the...while staring at the screen in disbelief, I was killed by a "Militia Guard".
Still not believing my eyes, I re-loaded the game and went at it again, this time with a scoped M1A so I could keep my distance.
After going through the brush for a minute, I came to a covered are where I could safely observe my "enemies". Looking through the glass on my rifle, I zoomed in on my "enemy camp" and couldn't believe what I saw.
Dozen's of Americans walking around a campfire armed with M1A's, AR's and FAL's. One dude even had an SKS and another had an AK.
I said "This can't be for real! What was the author of this Mod thinking!?!".
As I began raining down a wall of well-placed lead on the enemy camp, I got a dozen messages like:
"Congratulations! You have neutralized a Militia Patriot...a Militia Guard...a Militia Extremist..."
In a rage, here's a copy of the email I sent to the author of the Mod, gun@sealz.com :
Dear Sir,
I'm writing you to express my disgust with the latest version
of your namesake mod, GRM6.
While the quality of new weapons kits and uniforms is
outstanding, I have a serious problem with the new "enemy"
skin, Militia.
When I first saw this in the Read Me file, I'd assumed that
you refering to Somali Militia or something...no way this guy
could be talking about the militias of the United
States...right?
Obviously I was wrong.
I'm not even sure where to begin. Why in God's name would you
want to make militia members out to be threats to the safety
of the country? You've put us right up there with Iraqis and
other terrorists! NEVER has a militia in the U.S. commited a
terrorist act against this great country (unless you count
the Revolutionary War...we were known as terrorists back
then...right before we assisted in kicking England's *.)!
We have a hard enough time getting people to understand that
we are just concerned citizens and not mindless, redneck
terrorists without having people indoctrinated via PC games.
I guess my question would be:
Why do you see it as acceptable to make a "Militia Patriot"
out to be an enemy of the United States?
I eagerly await your reply. It could be that you are simply
mis-informed as to the purpose of the militia movement in the
U.S..
If that's the case, please say so and I'd be happy to answer
any questions you may have.
That said, I eagerly await your reply.

Perhaps you should stand back and view the possible ramifications of this fellows act before drooling hysterically from your slack jaw.

Perhaps I came off too harsh. For that I'm sorry. I'm usually not the type to blow up on any subject.
However, I would have the same problem if the guy had made a Mod to go out and kill Jews, Blacks, etc.
I have no problem playing a game where your objective is to kill Somali terrorists, but there's a huge difference between that and killing Americans for sport. Let's not split hairs and get into a semantics war over something that is black and white.
Stand And Be Counted
An Islamic terrorist who drives a van full of napalm into a nursery school to protest against a whole race of people deserves to die. An American patriot who is just trying to protect his own rights, and wished to hell they'd just leave him (and his rights) alone DOES NOT.
I wonder what would happen if someone had created a mod where you played the militiamen, and you had to ambush a convoy or something.
That poor guy would be down at FBI headquarters playing kissy-face with a phonebook within the day.
Funny how the bias shows right through.
I know you post on AWRM.com. I spoke to someone over there who said he was looking for militia members in New York State.
I sent him an email, and he never got back to me. I told him I was 18, and I think I might have pissed him off.
Some militia-minded people are just natural born patriots, but I'd be lying to say I didnt think some of the people that post over there arent totally psychotic.
Like Judge Dread with a nervous tic and a basement full of C4.
Ummm...point taken, but McVeigh wasn't militia either. He tried to join and when he told them of his plans, they kicked his * out the door and turned him in to the FBI.
Apparently, the FBI didn't take it seriously enough or the Murrah Federal Building wouldn't be getting sold off piece by piece on Ebay...

You're missing the point. The game is not marketed to Middle Easterners.
It is being marketed to Americans. The towelheads can do whatever they want in their video games. I could care less. But when I play a game marketed to Americans, I damn well don't want to see patriots marked as the enemy to be routed and destroyed.

I wouldn't take it so seriously.
In Grand Theft Auto III you can go around running over people and killing innocent pedestrians. It's wrong but it's fun.
Don't worry about the bullet with your name on it, worry about the fragmentation grenade addressed 'To Occupant'.

You got my curiosity up so last night I downloaded Gunslinger's Realism Modification Version 4. It didn't include any new type of terrorists or maps. Just the standard Desert Seige maps. I played it for a few hours and never saw the messages your describing, can you be more specific?
Don't worry about the bullet with your name on it, worry about the fragmentation grenade addressed 'To Occupant'.
I think he's talkin' about GRM6, not 4.
I'm not afraid of the dark...the dark is afraid of me!

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

Evil. My hat's off to you. You didn't see any boyscouts or church ladies in that game did you?

Games don't cause violence any more than guns do.

"Splatter bonus!"
Interestingly enough, GRM6 has been pulled from just about every major file site on the Net.
I guess the other two dozen emails I sent did some good, eh?
If you really want to download GRM6 and see what's up, my best guess would be to go into UBI's chat screen and ask some of the players there.
Other than the crapping anti-militia content, the Mod itself absolutely sucks anyways. Too many bugs.
Stand And Be Counted
Ya I found that out last night. Apparently the Mod maker 'Gun Slinger' stole most of his work from the =DRAG= team's mod. He claimed they had given him permission, but this isn't the first time he's be accused of using someone else's work. Go to www.platoon.com, they have the down low... The Black Sun mod is pretty sweet. Ps. I download Soldier of Fortune Double Helix Demo the other night. Oh my god! The graphics and physics were sooo sweet. Unfortunately you can still absorb like 200 bullets
