Ordered a new gun safe today from a great co....

I'll make this short....
I posted an email to Sportsman Steel Gun Safe Co. last night, and today I got a phone call from a great guy from that company. He answered all my questions satifactorily and ended up selling me a safe similar to the one I was looking at, but a bit cheaper than the original one, because I didnt realize shipping would be so much on nearly 800lbs. from CA. The fella set me up, threw in a dehumidifier rod, 2 pistol racks, for free, and was just fantastic to deal with. The best part of all? You wont believe this. They have a law away program, he called it 'the good 'ol boy lay away program'. I put down 200.00, and there is no payment plan, you can take a year, or a little longer if needed to pay on it till its payed for. They have what seems to be an incredible fire safety feature. They have just about anything you could want in a safe. I have full access to all guns without pulling out the ones in front, electrical access hole, floor mounting holes, full width sized door, black textured exterior, tan interior, I think it will be sweet. I'll let you know how it appears when it gets here, it will be 6 weeks to make it, and if I have all the money together that soon I'll have it delivered then too. Check out their web site, and if any of you end up ordering one, please let them know I refered you, there is a monetary bonus in it for me. Even if you dont want to tell them I refered you thats ok by me, I think that they have a nice product, but then I'll tell you for sure when I get mine.

    robsguns,

You are right, just got off the phone with Michael at Sportsman steel Gun Safe Co., they are a first class operation, very helpful and knowledgeable. Now all I have to do is decide which Wide Body style I want and need.

Thanks for the information you provided in your post, gave me the motivation I needed to get this issue settled, as it's been something I've been procrastinating.

    He Dog,
Wouldnt that be cool?! But being in the military, I didnt think that would be so fun moving it around. I'm getting old, and my body just aint up to the challenge any more. 800lbs. is gonna be bad enough moving. I dont think the 1 ton version would be possible for me to move too easy.
    Airborne,
I hope you can get the one you want, I had to 'make due', I really wanted a bigger one, but it really is a space and weight factor for me. When I get a real house and settle down I'll be getting one to make a gun nut druel over.

Sportsman is a very popular safe company here in Southern California.
They make the gun show circut and advertise heavily in the sports sections of various newspapers. Their safes are all made at their own factory and you can pick your own model with any features you may desire. The list is endless. They are good safes and are California compliant for secure storage. I also own one myself.
I have had five customers who've purchased from Sportsman and all were pleased with the safe. They were less than pleased with the time it to took to actually recieve their safes...six weeks turned into nine and then ten. There were also some problems with people getting their facts straight about delivery times and safe interiors. Sportsman suffered from a devastating fire at their factory a few years back and they have now fully recovered. Always buy a safe bigger than you think you'll ever need because they do fill up fast.

I'm bringing this back up from the archives, I was only a member for two days at the time so I guess I should have been more forceful!

Yeah, somehow I seemed to remember this thread when you emailed me, aint that a kicker? From great company, to great disappointment. Wish I was still in Pendleton, things would be much different right now, Fred would not be happy if I were able to show up in person. On second thought, I'd be in the base brig., good thing I'm not there.

I picked up a Champion Safe at a truckload sale a few months back. It is a very nice safe for the money. It is a 24 gun safe and it is almost full. I definatly feel a lot better knowing all these firearms are locked up.
Mabooger gives me hell all the time, the last thing I do when I go out the door is check the safe to make sure I Locked it. She says and I quote" sure you can check the safe, but ya can't take time to turn out the lights or turn off the TV."
Well after all we do have our priorities!

JB - Yep, I can see that it is confusing. Note the dates of posts. This is the initial post from back in September when Ryan thought that this company was good. The post from yesterday is a follow up to this one. He is still very torqued about this company.
