I posted a few days ago that our local NBC affiliate was promoing a news story about how criminals get guns. They showed gun show shots where there were signs saying "personal guns" "Private collection" all indicating no paperwork. The reporter stated that by using this means a crimnal could 'legally' obtain a firearm.

Well, I just sent an email to them: quote:In your news story relating to gun shows the statement was made several time about how criminals can "legally" obtain firearms. If someone is a convicted felon or have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence there is NO WAY they can "legally" obtain a firearm. Their own Mother couldn't legally give them one.

If your station is going to promote and feature a story like this be sure you know the laws that pertain to the subject.

Thank you for your time.

Good for you Pelican. Probably wasted effort on your part, however.

I often thought it should be part of the reporters job to find out how the criminals they report on obtained their weaponry. I'm sure the police have to go through the effort to see if the "Saturday Night Special" used in the "drive by shooting" was registered to the person holding it. If not, shouldn't that be part of the story.

Gun shows are one of the least likely manners in which criminals obtain guns. It's already been researched and reported. What morons. I can't believe they touched a subject that is unpopular right now even with the most liberal of liberals in politcs.

    Pelican,
Are you talking about the Alabama we all know and love? The "Here, hold my beer and watch this". Alabama? Dern libbers and huggers are getting everywhere. I thought it was bad here in Republican, rural Kansas with no concealed carry. So far we only have a couple of towns worrying about the evil gunshows. Most shows are open to private sellers and traders. One local TV station started a poll on the same issues but quickly pulled it.

My son lives near Huntsville Al. and he says Redstone arsenal has a large percentage of transplanted liberal gun haters. He and a lot of his friends are doing their best to get them folks over being gun shy.
