Your going to go your whole life not knowing how stupid you are without some sweet thing telling you every day!!! 23 years invested in mine. Can't afford to trade her off and I don't have the patience to try to train a new one..................

Big Timber--You and me both. Like I stated in another thread, I'm probably going to wait until I'm in my 60's and find a nice sweet old lady who is good company and can make a mean chicken and good Christmas cookies. That's contentment and happiness IMHO.

If looking, maybe one close to your age in years or maturity would be better than an "old" one, why limit yourself?

I'm engaged going on 3 months now. The soon to be wifey and I have been together 5 years now...and will make it official in May. I have always had a problem with women referring to their husbands as "old man"....and vice-versa, sounds just really dissrespectful. Advantages...you can not name enough if you get along well enough to GET married, too many. My soon to be wifey is great, ALL that "I" could want or hope to have. She loves to see ME happy! As in SHE has bought me, without reason, a few of my favorite guns...just because she new I wanted them. She enjoys going to the range or the ranch..to shoot or hunt. She is my fishing buddy when mine are tied up and cant go. I had always for some reason wanted a Mark XII Desert Eagle..she went to the gun shop I introduced her to and brought a new one home for a surprise for me..no special occaision. The pistol, tactiical holster, 2 factory mags. She gave it to me after she had ordered Hogue finger groove grips for it from Magnum research..the ONLY place you can get those grips from for the Eagle, period. Now that was sweet, dont you think,......and the act of her doin so wasnt bad either! I have numerous other guns that came into my possesion under those circumstances. We know each other well enough that we dont have to speak all the time for the other to understand what the other is thinking. She is a great friend, with my happiness, well being, and health her priorities. As I said, too many positives. I have been married twice before, one divorce was my fault...the other was not.It has now been 11 years since I have been married...this not something one rushes into. The main thing is, how can I let go of, pass by if you will, someone who not only puts up with me...but supports my gun habit, and loves ME!? There are there down sides too....even with the right one....give me a few years and I am sure I can come up with a few in that dept.......Ultimate reason..she makes me happy...and for some un be-known reason...I make her happy!??
"ANY" EXCUSE IS A GOOD REASON TO BUY "JUST 1 MORE".& VICIE-VERSIE![This message has been edited by RUGERNUT3 (edited 02-16-2002).]

I've got a few complaints about my wife that really tick me off, but I guess the bottom line is she is damn good about what really is important. She lets me do pretty much anything I want within reason. Shes smart, home most of the time, has a job when it suits us, home schools our children, is extremely supporting in my career and I really couldnt do it without her, and takes care of my need to eat and wear clean clothes. I suppose I can try to overlook the little things, even if they seem big to me. You get use to overlooking 'the wife's' faults, cause you know shes doing the same thing.

I dont think anyone can tell you any reasons that YOU need a wife, that is something you need to find for yourself. I was married once and my reasons where very clear in the beginning, i wanted someone to come home to that wanted to be there, over time with a lot of hard work from both sides, dont take the man or woman for granted.

I've been married to the same woman for over 26 years. Good and bad times have come and gone. Wouldn't trade the time together for anything. She'll outlive me so I don't have to worry there. I have been told the following bears some consideration though:If it Flys, F%&k$, or Floats, rent it don't buy it. The maintenance is too high.Appears, there is some sound logic here.

I believe you have asked the wrong question. Why do you need vs why do you want. A friend and companion. A significant other. A fishing buddy and a camping buddy. Some ome who believs and trust in you and at the same time can tell you when you have been a real SOB and she would know and loves you any way. There are more reasons than not. Is your cup half empty or half full. You tell me why you want a good woman.

I guess it depends on the one you pick, but for me, on the worst days of my life, I've come home to someone who cares and would do what ever it took to make me feel better. I'm looking at nearly 30 years of being with the best friend I've ever known.NO BULL!

If I didn't have a wife I'd be eating canned chili for dinner and wearing dirty socks.I'd also be getting a lot of strange leg, which, in this day and age, is about the same thing as a death sentence.Mmmm hmmm, dear. Whatever you say, dear.

Whatever ya do,don`t fall into that trap of bringin` the paycheck home to the ol` lady, and then have to ask for some of it back if you need somethin!!I`ve seen guys who let the ol` lady wear the pants..it is not natural! Some guys have to ask if they can buy another gun.I would never ask if I can have another gun...when I`m done workin` the show this weekend,I`m goin` down to the shop, and buyin` that fine 20 guage Wingmaster for myself, and it`s none of her business...come to think of it..I might even make it her gun..ya see how fair I am after all?.218

Rugernut3: After you each do your incometaxs then do it again as though you were married. It gets much worse when you start collecting Social Security & find that only because you are married you have to pay taxes on the Social Security. Then when you reach 65 you find that you get $200 less deduction each. Is this a great country or what. They could have fixed the marriage tax but they decided that Bill Gates needed the money more. Let's hear it for George the Younger.

Rugernut, Just be careful. A woman that likes guns is liable to want half, or more should you and her ever decide to part ways... Mine has no use for them, except maybe the contender. But I think i would probably loose the '66 vette that's out in the garage. Guess I better keep her.

why do rednecks {no offence} refer to thier wives as "old lady"? i plan on owning a "trophy wife" one day and would never call her "old lady" i mean you call your dad "old man" and your wife "old lady" shouldn't that be your mom?[This message has been edited by jdb123 (edited 02-17-2002).]

Ditto on what Saxon said. Having someone around and being married are two different things, as one is expendable (to some extent). I was married once just like most people...and unfortunately, not all things are meant to work out the way we'd like. Sooner or later, time will come when you meet someone and wont have to justify to yourself the mechanics of being married.-smooth

marriage is just a piece of paper and a tax status,,,,,,,you can still have the companionship and all that without the paperwork plus have your "space" as well,,,,although, I have to admit, a hubby is good for killing bugs!!Hey,,,maybe someone needs to open a "bug-buster business",,,,I would call

midntstorm,Just exactly how are you implying the payment for bug killing would be made?Cash or bartered services?
