I mean the biggest, meanest, most shockingly painful, makes you want to run out to the gun store and buy a recoil-pad right then type kick.PS- Handguns dont count.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, take it to a mechanic. will270win@aol.com ~Secret Select Society Of Suave Stylish Smoking Jackets~

I have a friend who owns a single shot .416 Rigby. We used to take it to the dump and shoot old apliances with it. It would actually pick up an old washing machine about a foot in the air and roll it over. I made the mistake once of trying to shoot it from a sitting position. It literally picked me up and turned me 90 degrees. To this day it is the most impressive thing I've ever shot. I've owned a Remington rolling block in 50-70 and three 45-70's a trapdoor, A 86 Win rifle, and a NEF Handy rifle. I can shoot 2 boxes of ammo through any of those, but I ain't moving too good the next day. Really the Rolling block and the 86 aren't that bad being rifles. The short barrels are alot lighter and push you around alot more.WOODS

I've owned a 505 Gibbs and I presently have a 500 AHR. Don't know which is worse in the recoil dept. When launching 570 grain bullets at 2400 FPS from 11 pound firearms, they tend to beat things to death on both ends. That's why I love Big Bore cartridges.

My new 870 12 GA super mag in 3.5, with a magnum 521 copper plated NITRO turkey round leaving the barrel at 1300 FPS. I call it the "Snot Knocker". It's knocking the snot from something everytime it's fired. Mostly me!Trinity+++

I once shot a 12ga single shot that had a 4" bbl., gee I wonder who made that . I have it on good authority that that barrel was quickly replaced with the factory barrel which was found. That gun was severe punishment for the guy that just had to see what it would do. Funny thing is, it had a nice patern, about an improved pattern at 25 yds. effective for home invasion, if you survived the shot, really hurt the cheek. Now the biggest legal gun I have is a .458 Win. Mag. and it aint fun to shoot, anyone interested in it? Its in as new condition.

My brother had a 10 ga. shotgun that would definitely hurt you. My 18 year-old, skin and bones shoulder was no match for it.

When I was younger and stupider A buddy of my Dads let me shoot his new .264 Win Mag. with a scope on it, and sure enough I held it too close and I sported a nice moon scar above and around my eye for a long time.

.458 Win Mag on a M-98 mag action. First shot scoped my eye (8 stiches) and the sling swivel cut a finger on my forearm hand (4 stiches). Had a deep shoulder bruse that took 4 weeks to heal.

Barret 82A1, Weatherby 460 Mag, Ruger #1 416 Rem Mag. All nothing compared to the "Worst". A Ruger Mk77 Ultra light in 308 Win. Skinny narrow straight butt stock, and narrow fore stock. Very poorly designed stock, but light. My Mark V in 300 Weatherby was less in Felt Recoil. But it has a properly designed stock. Magna Porting really tamed it, but sold it anyway.
    Happy Bullet Holes!

Hey Guns, Exactly what does the Barrett compare to? I've heard from some that there no worse than a shotgun and some say they will never shoot them again. Whats the poop on the biggest pooper?[This message has been edited by Hans Grueber (edited 02-19-2002).]

Iver Johnson 16ga. Champion. It is such a light gun that it really blasts ya! Close second has to be my Mosin Nagant 44 and my 1891 Mauser carbine.

I bought a Winchester pre-64 Model 70 that had been rebarreled and rechambered to .458 Win. Mag. I shot it three times and sold it the vary next day. I was using Fedral ammo loaded with a 500 grain round nose bullet. That is one gun I will not miss. It looked nice but had a hell of a bite.
