Whiteclouder-Husky 5000 Questions

I took my rifle to a gunsmith today, to ask him if my rifle "fit" correctly. He said I should definately have some of the stock removed.
I do not want to have the stock cut, but fortunately a few months ago I picked up a stock for a Husky 5000, that a stockmaker at the show was selling. It has to have some sanding done, but it is just about the same dimensions as the original stock(visually at least).
So I was thinking about having that one cut, and keeping the original as is.
The gunsmith also said that the trigger seemed quite stiff, and suggested that I put a Timney adjustable trigger in.
I have noticed the trigger is a bit stiff compared to my other rifles, but I am not sure if I should have this done. I am finally shooting respectable groups with the rifle, so I am a little reluctant to start changing things to dramatically-the problem is I do not have experience with all of these sophisticated adjustments. The couple of rifles I shoot I shoot as they came out of the box, so this could certainly be a case of "not knowing what I am missing." The smith told me I would notice quite a difference with the new trigger.
What do you think. You mentioned you had a .243 Husky. This is what I have.
Do you have a stock trigger on your rifle, or do you have some aftermarket type?
He also mentioned "floating" the barrel. Again, I am shooting the rifle consistently out to 100 yards, and the oppurtunity to shoot it any farther is probably not going to happen.
Do you have any suggestions with respect to "floating" the barrel.

Hey salzo, I went through this a while back just trying to find out what mdl I had. I forget now but a 4000, 5000 or somthing like that is close,BUT mine is a Imperial Featherweight in 243 has a hooded front site and the rear has 2 flip ups. My trigger is very nasty also and will actualy pull you 2 inches to the right when you squeez so you just kinda compesate for it. I understand the not wanting to cut the wood because I have a very nice piece on my rifle and not want to cut it. Good luck Rich
