I wont be at this one, have made about six of them.Wear the most comfortble shoes you have.Spend the first day going over the whole place,Take notes of what you wont to go back and see.The first one will tend to overwelm you,You will think you are in heaven.Dont forget the little booths,This is were you will find a lot of new and neat products that havent made it to the big time. Most important eat a huge breakfast.A junkfood lunch and a drink are going to cost you a fortune in that place. It is well worth it,Because it is the greatest show on earth for BIG kids.Make sure you keep the book they give you when you come in (shot show directory). It will come in handy at home.It contains all the information on every one there.

I'm not going to be able to go this year. I've got that Front Sight class to go to a few weeks later. Too long to stay in the hotel and rack up the bill and too close together for me to want to make the 28 hour drive again. Can I just order a copy of the book?

Is the S.H.O.T Show open to the public? I thought you had to be an industry rep. or employee or a writer for one of the gun rags. If not, can you give details as to how to get in? Thanks.

GunBroker.com will be there. Not sure what the booth number is - I think they are trying to move to a better spot.[This message has been edited by admin (edited 12-22-2001).]

I have been to every SHOT Show and will be in Las Vegas in February 2002. Good shoes are the best advice. A rolling cart or something similar is desirable for collecting literature. If you are like me, you will want a LOT of literature. Get a shipping box from the business service the first thing you do, and then keep coming back to your box to deposit your literature as your rolling cart becomes full. On the day you plan to leave, be sure and get your box shipped early to avoid the last minute rush at closing time. Plan on spending $60 to $80 for this service. Prices vary on food in the convention center, depending on where you buy. There are snack bars located around the outside that are less expensive than the sit-down restaurants, but you will want to be able to sit down so the extra cost is often worth it. You can also find some soft drink machines hidden away in some halls of the center, and around the edges of the main hall. There is usually a fast food place near your hotel and you can eat breakfast and supper there if you want to save money. However, a typical Las Vegas buffet in the evening is quite a treat and not too expensive. The noon meal will have to be at the center, unless you do as suggested and skip it. As tired as you will be after lugging your cart and walking miles, you may consider the noon meal a necessity.I agree about the little booths. That is where the good stuff is. I remember whan I stumbled onto the Kel-Tec booth in 1995 after the ban and there was the perfect carry gun. I spent the next month or so calling Kel-Tec to see when the first shipment of P11s would go out. I got four in the very low 100 serial range, and my personal gun is still perfect, perhaps by luck, as there have been a lot of improvements in later production.Maybe we should schedule a meeting of those of us who post on these boards at the show. Perhaps the GunBroker booth would be a good meeting place. Maybe we should all meet there like Sunday Noon and then go eat together, etc.. (Maybe GunBroker will buy!)

Doctor, your e-mail address did not work for me. I copied it from your post and read it into the address box on my e-mail service, but got a report it did not go through. Did you give it correctly above? For everyone's information (going from memory, which I hope is correct), the 2002 SHOT Show starts Saturday, February 2, 2002 at 9:00 A.M., and runs through Tuesday, February 5, 2002 to about 4:00 P.M.. The hours are generally 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M., except for the last day. It is being held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, which is a great facility for a show. You need to be associated with the shooting sports or law enforcement in order to be admitted. Anyone who is a bit inventive can probably figure a way to get in. I have taken friends as "buyers" so they could get in. That was not a lie, as they were/are buyers from me! (I know, that is not the whole truth, and I now feel bad!) I have met a lot of people at the shows who were not in the retail gun business so a lot do find a way to get in. I have found that some exhibitors do not have literature the first day, and some run out by the second day, so if literature is your bag, it takes a bit of effort to make sure you get what you want.
