H&K handguns for lefties?

I like the H&K tacticals and longslides, but I'm left handed and that safety looks like it could get pushed on by the grip of a left handed shooter accidentally. Of course I can take a run down to the gun shop, I just wondered if anyone has a view on the likelihood of the system causing problems for a lefty like me.

Iv'e shot the H&K USP .40 and I shoot left handed. I didn't have any problems with the gun at all. It shot very well and was not difficult to manipulate.

if you look the hole that the safety is in goes all the way through and i admit i dont know how but its just a matter of swapping sides

It is NOT just a matter of swapping sides. However, H-K sells an ambidextrous safety kit that puts the safety on both sides. It costs about $60 and takes just a few minutes to install. It is sometimes hard to get, like all H-K parts.

After installing the kit, I have had no trouble with accidently activating the safety when shooting with either hand.

Although they may be hard to get, H-K also makes a safety lever for the right side only, as on the Variant 2.
