JUDGE JUDY is anti-second amendment

edited February 2002 in General Discussion
Was watching Judge Judy. The case involved a woman who maced some fellow. The two parties had problems with each other in the past, and the woman claimed she maced him after he hit her. The man claimed he hit her after he was maced. Judy could not get beyond the fact that this woman was walking around with Mace. The woman explained that drug dealers hung out in front of her partment, had been known to attack people, and that is why she carried Mace.Judy said that she had to believe that the man was telling the truth, because it was obvious that the woman was looking for trouble, because she was carrying mace. Judy said "I mean you are walking around with pepper spray, you do not have a right to arm yourself." I almost fell off my chair.Gee I dont have a right to arm myself? The second amendment says I have a right to arm myself. "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed"-Thats what I would have said.

I think I would rather pull my own eyes out with salad tongs than watch drivel like Judge Judy.

Hey Salzo; don't keep us in suspense. What was happening on Oprah and Sally Jesse Raphael that day? Did you get a chance later on to watch Maury Povich?Man! I love daytime TV.

NO disrespect to Yankees is intended. It is only my observation that the average Yankee is less likely to be into guns than the average Southerner.Case in point: I had a new recruit on the range for a day. He was moderately proficient with his pistol, but when I gave him a revolver to use, he was in trouble.I asked him if that pistol was the first gun he had ever owned. He said yes.I asked him if that pistol was the first gun he had ever shot. He said yes.I asked if he had not been allowed to shoot even a .22 rifle while growing up. He said no.Incredulous, I asked, "What's the matter? Were you raised by Yankees?"He said, "Yes."So, no slight intended. It just seems that guns don't figure into that culture as much, particularly the urbanites.

"Judge" Judy is a New York media personality who draws her check from Hollywood. She WAS a judge, she is not any more. What does anyone expect from network television? And I'll lay a bet down. I bet 75% of what is recorded is thrown away, because she has NO power to hold anyone in contempt. Just another sellout.

I ain't fighting any rebs-yanks stuff, ever. I was born and live in Wisconsin. The most friendly folks I've ever met live in the Roanoke Valley of Virginia. It was a better trip than the Virgin Islands. Even had a Stars and Bars for a gift, with instructions to fly it as far north as possible...heh heh..I did.

I think "new York hardcore liberal" would be good label for her not to mention several other names. Her show has nothing to do with real court-it's just a welfare attempt by the news media to put money in the hands of fakes, shysters and the general scum of society!JMHO!

Salzo,I saw the show you are referring to. I took a completely different read on it. I think Judy was admonishing the woman because she obviously armed herself with mace, then went out an provoked a confrontation with her neighbor so she could use it. She was someone who was all up in everyone else's business, spreading rumors about people she new nothing about, and got her friend to help her set up this confrontation so she would have an excuse to mace him. Both were over the edge, but she was looking for a fight. If I arm myself, then go spit in your face so you will react, so I can draw and fire. Then I should be found in the wrong. I don't like Judy, and don't like her show. The only reason I was watching it was because I was a captive audiance in the hospital. I have seen her support violent actions in self defence. It seems she has a big problem with folks who provoke other people. I stopped watching her show about a year ago, because I felt she makes her decisions before she comes out to hear the evidence.

dheffley- I did not see the entire "case" but my wife filled me in on the details. It appeared to me that both sides were garbage, so I wouldnt be suprised if the mace carrier did provoke. However, I did hear Judy say that she had no choice but to believe thwe man, because the woman carried mace, and was obviously looking for terouble. And I did heare Judy say. "You went out carrying mace, I mean you do not have a right to arm yourself."

Oh, yeah, Salzo!! And I just bet the bailiff has a fake gun and she goes home every night unprotected!! Another RosieO, starting to sound like, to me! I admit to watching the show many times, and nobody who does what she does can afford to be unprotected. Another hypocrite??

SalzoJudy asked her if she normally carried mace. She said no. Judy asked her if she normally took this little "walk" by his house. She said no. She asked her if she then caught her in a lie about which side of the street she was on when the incident occured, and another lie about where she was going on that walk, and why. Once she caught her telling lies, the thing was over. I agree, both were trash, but the woman (in my opinion) got her friend, her dog, her mace, and went out to even the score. I think Judy saw it the same way.Dang, I hate defending Judy because I think she's a power hungry, man hating, capital "B". But the woman in that trial was way out of line.I have seen Judy defend "force" and "deadly force" in self defence when it was justified. I think she goes by the letter of the law when it comes to violence. "you start it, you get what you deserve", and "he has the right to defend himself by the full letter of the law" are two of the statements I've heard her make. I don't think she is "pro' second ammendment, but I don't think she is "anti" either.
