New Port Richey, Florida-AP -- A dad in New Port Richey, Florida, says he was just rewarding his son for cleaning his room and finishing his homework.The father -- Barry Colbert -- let his seven-year-old boy take the family car for a spin Friday night.Investigators say that wasn't a good idea. They say the first-grader ran a stop sign and crashed into another car. No one was seriously hurt.Colbert says he's not irresponsible. He says he just had a few beers and felt that it would be safe for his son to go around the block a couple of times.Colbert says, "Some kids play with dolls -- my kid wants to drive."Both father and son got citations from police.

    I think father should have had a "few" dozen less beers. Hell, I've let my kids sit on my lap and "drive" down the driveway a few times, but I wouldn't even take them in the car if I had a "few" beers. (or more than one).

    Hey, those of us who live near New Port Richey fully understand what happened. After all, most of these types of accidents are caused by the old folks who forget which is the gas and which is the brake! Dad was just teaching the young 'un early!!!!
