If you can't feel the music; it's only pink noise!
Out of all the guns I own, my favorite and most used are the following.
22 Long Rifle, 22WMR, 30-30 WIN, 7 X 57 Mauser, 30-06 Springfield
I also have a wildcat that I am very fond of. It is a "30 GIBBS", Nice custom job built on a 1903 Springfield action. Its a complicated process forming the brass, but its a labor of love.
I also had a .280 Remington that I somehow horse traded away, I wish I hadn't. If you load your own, the 280 REM is hard to top.
For handguns, I like the .45 auto. I have an older Colt 1911A1 and a little NAA .22 Mag 5 shot "ear gun" that I keep in my pocket.
Ones that I have in the gun safe that I dont get to shoot very often but still think deserve honorable mention are the 6.5 X 55 SWEDE and nicely sportorized Mod 98 in 8 X 57 Mauser (the 8 X 57 being another handloaders cartridge)
Two that I have always had on a short list to aquire, but haven't done so yet ... are the 260 REM and the 7MM-08, seems like very good medicine for deer.
The old "Ought Six" is the biggest in my arsenal .... I dont like to be kicked like a mule when I pull the trigger.
Machinist Mate 1st Class, United States Navy, (Retired)
I also like the 6.5X55, 303 british and the 300 Win Mag
Fields - 25 WSSM
Varmints and pests - 22-250
If we are doing deer drives I'll use my 6mm, Rem 742.
223 with a close second going to 22-250 for small game only because it is more expensive.
This 7mm pill was resting against the hide on the opposite side of the entrance this year. Deer never took another step.
I like the 375 H&H magnum loaded HOT with 285 grain Speer Grand Slam bullets for groundhog hunting with my Encore. [:o)]
ever have any walk away[:D][:D]

If I could have just one I think I would take my 45 Colt.
1 in Ruger Blackhawk and one in a Winchester.[:)]
It's not the fastest or the flatest shooting but whatever I hit with the open sights, that 255gn piece of lead seems to make fall down.
.357 mag
Rifle:
Big game 7 X 57 Mauser, man by the name of Bell used it on elephants in African. He died of old age, not getting stomped on by a PO'd elephant
Small game 22 rim fire
Varmints 220 Swift to wayyyyyyyyyyyyy out there.
Small birds 28 ga
Big birds 12 ga.
.308
.25-06
.22-250
6mm PPC
7mm-08
thats my first choice at close range
22lr is next
30.06 takes care of the rest
chambering, are 22-250, 243 win, 270 win, 300 win mag.
But my personal favorites are the 22 Hornet, 257 Roberts, 30-06, 375 H&H, and 458 Win Mag.
After that,
Pistol: 9mm, .45, 7.63mm Mauser, and .357 Mag.
Rifle: 30-06, 8mm Mauser, 5.56mm, 11mm Mauser
Arty: 75mm, German 88mm, 90mm, and 16" Naval Gun
Air Launched: CBU (Rockeye), MK 83 w/Snake eye, FAE Bomb
It goes without saying the .22 should be on everyone's list.

Completely forgot about the german 88 how could I betray my heritage like that. I still find it funny that a gun that was designed to be an AA gun(thats anti-aircraft for those of you that dont know) turned out to be the best artillery cannon and tank gun of all time (would blow holes right through our shermans) any of you guys see the military channels top 10 tanks it was full of crap the Panzerkampfwagon VI or Tiger I tank should have been number one on that slot.
My favorite caliber is similar. It's whatever I happen to be holding in my hand at the time I'm shootin'.
Sahagan
Home 12 gauge
Varmit 223
Deer 300 win.
Aliens in UFO's 50 bmg and a 500 S+W Mag if they make it to the ground
Small game--.22-250
Big Game--.270 Winchester
If I had to choose just one--.270 Winchester hands down.
