Are Wilson, Les Baer 1911 Pistols worth the $$$. Any of them?
Heard too many stories about the newer Kimbers with flaws.
Thanks

yes, and yes i own one 30,000+ rounds as good as the day i bought it, read up on wilsons finish, i also have several friends that have purchased them after shooting mine, another friend became a master dealer for wilson after selling them several wilsons

i cannot say anymore or the "i can buy 6 ria's for the same price" police will jump in[:)], i don't know about you but i adhere to the old saying "beware of the man with on gun, he probably knows how to use it"

All Wilson guns are excellent, and all are overpriced. As such, they are not value heavy as with RIA guns, which are crap but good value for the money. In other words, you're better off having 6 RIAs than one Wilson.

I know a number of people who sold their used RIAs for more than what they paid new. I don't know of anyone who got more for an unmodified Wilson used than they paid new. Not saying it doesn't happen (I am reminded of the old adage about there being one born every minute).

My favorite 45 is a Bill Wilson built on one of the Para Ordnance P14 frames over 20 yrs ago.
It cost over $1500 then and I have been offered twice that for it since there were very few made.

A Wilson and a RIA is like comparing a Porsche Cayenne and a Suzuki Samurai.
They will both get you there, just one is nicer, smoother, faster, and more comfortable.

I have a Wilson 870 and a Urban Tactical AR, they are both great, I bought them used and got them for 1/2 the cost of list prices. I got them both off of Gunbroker. I like em. I don't know if I would pay the price for a new one, but they are good guns. I don't know about the 1911's, I have never had one, but I would imagine that they are just as good.

Just buy a Kimber (or two) and be done with it.

Likely for same reason you pay more for used feathers and bustiers; you like the idea that other men have worn them.

I've been thrilled with my Kimber so far, I got a slightly used Tactical Custom II for $600 just over a month ago and have put about 800rds through it.
If I was going to be shooting a 1911 in competition, carrying it daily, or shooting more than a couple thousand rounds a year I'd probably consider the Wilson Combat or the Les Baer, but I'm not so I see no reason to spend the added $.
