Had some folks reply for assisting me for a free rental. Below are some replies

1. Some folks wanted it so he could rent their house.
2. Some folks wanted it with free utilities, cable
3. Some folks just thought I was scamming and it didn't exist
4. Some folks wanted me to pay them to manage the rentals with free housing, utilites
5. A few rental management companies called and I pay them.

I did find a couple needing housing that had carpentry, electrical, plumbing skills that use to work for a builder I know. References checked out. They are thrilled to death and were in a bad way and fixin to loose their rental on hard times.

Sounds like a great arrangement for both but you've heard the adage "Shoemaker's son goes barefoot" so let them know and agree to your expectations to keep their residence and rental apartments in good condition.
Follow up on their work and the condition of the free apartment to keep them honest.
I wish my son would do something like that. He has three apartment houses and an office/warehouse he personally administers/repairs/updates/chases slow payers, apartment wreckers, inspectors etc. His personality is right for it. It has to be worth it to unburden oneself with a free rental to a Jack of Building Trades.

I have a tennant in one of my houses that works for a pool company. I gave him two months free rent and in return he fixed up my build in pool. It looks new again and has a new filter system and pump.Well woth the money. He also did some other odds and ends to make up the difference. Some times it all works out.
