Well now, this is different. Look at the neat toys we have now! This is going to take some getting used to.

I am trying to figure out if I like the member "ranking" that appears next to your name. I was looking around to see who has the highest ranking. I saw a few "senior members", but the highest that I have found is 218beekeep, who is an "advanced member". All bow to the honorable advanced member, 218beekeep.

Click 'Members' from the top of the page and you will see all members listed by rank in descending order. It's Dano by a hair over SaxonPig, with everyone else way pretty far back.

One more thing, Admin why didnt you put one of those bars up top that tells us who is snoopin the board? Makes it easier to stir when you know who is looking if your feeling oinery.

Ya know, I think we should have a new rule regarding posting on the GB. If anyone with "senor member" status or above posts something, any member with less than "senior member" status has to first ask permission if he can post on the topic.
For example, I(senior member) post something about politics. If GordianBlade(junior member) wants to respond to my comment, he has to first ask me for permission.
"senior member salzo-may I please respond to your topic."
    "yes you may, Junior"

FINALLY! I really like it. I suggested just this kind of change when I was waiting around the GunBroker booth at the 2002 SHOT Show for the AntiqueDr. I suggested the machinegunbooks.com site as having features I liked. That site has all these new features, as do several others.

The member status does not bother me much, because there are some members who have run up their post count by replying to everything, sometimes without adding anything of value to the discussion. Of course, I would not deny anyone the right to post anything.

I really like the fact that the previous posts on a topic are on the screen at the same time one is composing a response. I have always been annoyed when I had to go back to the previous screen to check on what someone posted. The "word processing" capabilities are really nice too.

I doubt that this new format will have anything to do with the reliability of the site. That comes from sever problems. If anything, the additional data being controlled may overload the servers to a small degree more.

I think the new format is great....but could the text be black, instead of light blue? Makes it very hard to read (to me, anyway)! Thanks again for all the hard work, admin.

Salzo, go jump in a lake....I resent authority in any form. I don't need no stinkin' badges. I don't care how many stars you have! I respect equals, not rank. Rank is for the insecure. I will talk/ say what ever I want to whoever cares to listen. I rarely open my trap on any other board, so unless you can get administration to kik me off this one, I'm not going away fore you have to pry it from my cold stiff upper lip. I'll talk to myself ifin no one wants to here what I have to say....but I still will do it here with out you say I can!!!

salzo, looks like you hooked your first fish in the new format. Congratulations!

BTW, I'm a big fan of Bogart films. ("Please don't call them 'movies'!") Two often misquoted lines: "Play it again, Sam." -- should be just "Play it." -- and "We don't need no stinkin' badges." -- should be "We don't need no filthy badges."

    Gordian Blade -

Are you sure? I did a Google search, and every source says that the exact quote from the movie is "Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges".

Interestingly enough, even that version is not the same as the original line in the 1935 book by B. Traven, that the movie was based on. The original line contained language deemed not appropriate by moviemakers of the time.

Ya learn something new every day!

OK, .280freak, I don't like to be incorrect, so I hauled out my copy of the movie and fired up my old Betamax player (for Pete's sake!) and you were right. I guess it's true that the memory is the second thing to go. Or was that the third? I don't remember.
