With all the high humidity (even here in Arizona}it would be a good idea to look your guns over for signs of rust.Even if they look ok it wouldn't hurt to wipe them down.Remember even stainless steel can rust given the right conditions. If you forgot to clean one from your last range session, now might be the time.

I remind all of our Officers to change those Mags with their spare ones to keep the springs in top shape. The way I remind them other than posting it on the bulletin board is to switch when the time changes.Switch back to the ones we changed out last fall, and let the current ones you carry in your sidearm and spare mags rest until the time changes again.

Plan to pull them all and give em a good rub down tonight after I give the dog a bath.

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

Good reminder Pete. Keep them stored in a silicone treated storage bag and/or keep the heater on in your safe.

    Prescott Pete,

Can not believe your timing, first of all I live in Arizona, second I just finished checking all revolvers. Tomorrow semi- auto pistols. Friday rifles and shot guns.

Pete is right about the stainless steel. Every stainless gun i've seen is made from 400 series stainless which is heat treatable and only moderately rust resistant. It's therefore much stronger than the foodservice grade 300 series stainless (not heat treatable) BTW does anyone know of other stainless steels used in the manufacture of guns?

Be very careful in the desert where swamp coolers are used. They can put a moderate amount of humidity in your home and you not even be aware of it.

Do mine once every 2 months. Procedure as follows:

Remove all from safes and cabinet.
Sort by type/manufacture or caliber (depends on mood).
Fondle and play with for awhile.
Wipe down and return to safes/cabinet.
Total time=about 2 hrs of enjoyment.

I think its worse in Florida, the humidity, if you put a rifle in a case, it will get rust overnight,

I have to wipe all my guns at least twice a week.

CLP baby, I never have a problem no matter how humid it is, and if you know anything about MO, you know how humid it is.
