What is your state sales tax?
I want to compare other state's sales tax to my own.

If you live in a city with a city sales tax, what is it?

No sales tax here in Oregon, but they sure do take out a ton for state income tax and I'll bet the property taxes are higher, too. I'd be first in line to vote for a state sales tax, but I'm not sure I'm in the majority. The way I see it, it always works out to be about the same percentage in the end.

Edharold, pretty high sales tax but isn't Washington one of the states with NO STATE INCOME TAX?

I bet everybody drives down to Oregon when they want to buy anything expensive!

Here in New York it changes from county to county, and even from city to city.
But in my county it is %7.75

    Texas 6.25%.

County can tack on another .5%.

City can add another 1.5% up to a maximum total of 8.25%.

My shop is in an unincorporated area of the county so mine is 6.75%.

WA State is I think 7.75 + whatever the city and county want to tack on. And no we don't have a State Income Tax.

    Shootist3006,
Many who live close to the state line buy much of their 'big ticket' stuff in Oregon. Not so easy to do if you live in King County or someplace further from the state line.
I cheat on the state sales tax every chance I get, but I have what I consider to be good reason. I am double taxed because I WORK in Oregon and get little or nothing for the vast sums of money collected by them in Income Tax!

    Bye the way Darin,
Where are you and what do you pay??

Salzo, I don't know about the state, but I bet the counties have some pretty good property taxes.
