I have recently aquired a mauser rifle, and I would like some help in finding out when and where it was manufactured, and what caliber it is. There are several numbers on the gun. There is a number(1062) on the handle for the bolt, with a B under it. the same number is also on the safety on the back of the bolt. It has a number of 66 stamped on the release for the bolt. The reciever is in fairly bad shape, but from what I can see it has the number 40 stamped on it close to the bolt. on the barrel there are several markings. One of them is the number 6701 with a K stamped under the number. There is a code of CXM12 41bys is also stamped on the barrel next to the reciever. The gun also has what appears to be a bird of some kind samped next to the number 6701 on the barrel. On the side of the reciever it has a number of 2381 stamped on it( I think this is the serial number). Further back towards the butt of the gun on the guard for the bolt it also has a number of 98. On the stock about one inch above the recoil pad there is another number of 274 stamped into the stock. Any information you can give me on this gun would be very much appreciated.

Thank You

I'm definetely no expert and probably don't know what I'm talkin' about but here's my guess:

Its a Yugoslovian Model 98K 8mm Mauser. And it sounds like it may have been put together using parts from several different guns.

    Just a guess, though.

We only have a few special years with our children in which they desire our time, attention, and love. After that time is over, it is gone forever, and we will be the ones that desire their time, attention, and love. Make those few, short years count -
