I am thinking of getting a * hound. Does anyone know of a kennel or individual who raises RED BONE * hounds with the TIMBER CHOPPER bloodline? I watched one of these work a couple of weeks ago and it tore the hell out of a *. It was pretty cool to witness. THankssongdog

If you train them right, black and tan and blue ticks are good ones.We raised hundreds of them back in the 50's and 60's along with beagles for rabbit hunting. We had one ole black and tan that was just about beyond his abilities but we used him to train the young ones. Ole Jack was still able to tree and alert but that's about it. One night we were out with the dogs near Elk river in northern Alabama. Ole Jack hit a female * on the ground and proceeded to do battle. During the fracus the female * attached herself to the underside of jack and began to rack backwards with her rear claws. She managed to open up his gut and let out some of his entrails. When the * cleared the dog I gave her both barrels from my SXS .410.I was only about 12 at that time and that was the only gun i owned. My Grandfather and uncle finished the * off big time with their Winchester M12'sJack had to be put down immediately due to the severe extent of his injuries. Jack was my grandfathers favorite dog and he thought alot of him. He had tears in his eyes when he pulled the trigger on his .32 and sent jack away.
