Ammo ? Auto to Revolver.

I was just looking at a 9mm revolver online. It seems to me that there has to be a different type of ammo for 9mm and .45acp revolvers that has a rim like normal revolver ammo (.38spl, .357, .44). I don't see how the ammo used in autos would eject out of a revolver?

Yes, moon clips (full, half, and 1/3) are how it's done. There is, however, a round called the .45 auto rim, which has a big, thick rim that takes up the space normally filled by the .45 cartridge and moon clip. Supposed to be rarer than an honest politician. Don't know if such a beastie ever existed in the 9mm, wouldn't be surprised.

Have you ever heard the term DETONATION ,that is usualy what happens when you use a 86k PSI load in a revolver ,the cilinder MUST be chambered for the type of cartrige and load ,I strongly advice against using PISTOL cartriges in revolvers you may get a nasty surprize ! 9mm =.380 =.38 but the LOADS vary as heck be careful......

If you're looking for 45 auto rim, there was a limited production run of PMC advertised in Sept. Shotgun News. Ph. 800-243-3006 Interstate Arms Corp.

Hey Judge, "86k psi"??!! Exactly which RIFLE PROOF LOAD do you think these people are going to put in their little ole wheelguns, anyway? To my knowledge, the only cartridge adopted to revolvers from a semi-auto was the .45 ACP. The .45 AR is not all that rare a loading; it can be found at most any gun show for roughly the same price as .45 auto ammo. I've seen the 9mm Federal revolver ammo; wasn't that a special run for 9mm Jap?[This message has been edited by Iconoclast (edited 12-28-2001).][This message has been edited by Iconoclast (edited 12-28-2001).]

SP - probably for folks like thee & me who prefer the wheelguns, but why anyone would choose the 9mmP over even the .38 Spl in a revolver is beyond my understanding, also.

seems that when i was a kid we got ahold of a bunch of 45acp.we shot it all in a 45sa.lots of missfires & you couldnt shoot the slightest bit downhill. had to hold the gun vertical & shake before each shot.
