Go to this website and see what kind of political challenge the State of Maryland has in mind for us gun owners. This is the type of stuff that spreads to other states. It's SICKENING!! RG http://www.oag.state.md.us/Press/pr289.htm

"I have added up these costs - the premature deaths of too many children, the teenagers consigned forever to wheelchairs, the lonely senior citizens taking their lives in moments of anguish, the billions of dollars we could be spending elsewhere - and these costs are too great. In a country of 270 million people and more than 200 million guns, we must finally put the brakes on. We cannot confiscate the handguns people already own, but there must be a moment in history where we say, `no more.'" Does this mean that he will outlaw the cars in his state too?? There are FAR MORE injuries and deaths caused by automobiles than any other consumer item in America. I know just how painful a car accident can be. I have not been able to work in over a year due to being hit from behind (accident was in Oct. 1992). It took me 2 years to get back to work and things have gotten worse since then. I had to have surgery in 1998 to keep from becoming paralized from the neck down.I say if politicians want to make things safer, outlaw automobiles. This would stop needless deaths and life altering injuries. Also, this would cut down on crime. No criminal would be able to run from the cops in a 2 ton get away vehicle. So there you have it, the solution to Americas crime problem. If only cops and military personel have cars and trucks then the country will be a safer place. (damn I'm starting to make about as much sense as the liberals)

Were is this guy getting all of these BS facts. We have more violent crime in tiny MD than states with much bigger populations and its on the rise since these restrictions were started. There are what, 38 right to carry states & this guy wants to go backward as far & fast as he can. MD, CA & NY seem to be the biggest endorsers of this kind of anti-gun attitude!! RGHeres my favorite quote from Mr. Curran!!!As the final step of his three-part plan, Curran calls for a change in our "gun culture." Like attitudes toward smoking and wearing seatbelts have undergone radical change, so too must people begin to view handgun ownership as dangerous behavior. Curran points out that despite being overrun with 70 million handguns in this country, only a minority - 16% - own all these guns which are causing so much harm.[This message has been edited by rg666 (edited 11-20-2001).]
