I have a Star PD and a BM. Both very reliable guns, greatly underrated. I don't know about the new models.

Star PDs are way underrated. They weigh 24 oz. and were one of the first compact .45s on the market. I have two....I wouldn't put 10s of 1000s of rounds through them but for concealed carry they are great guns. They are pretty sought after by certain people too. Kind of hard to find.

The Star PD is indeed Very underated. Although I have only shot two in my lifetime, I must say they are very accurate for their size. They are comparable in size to the Colt Defender. My business partner has carried one for nine years and he swears by them and he would not carry junk. If one could be had at a good price grab it. You won't be sorry.

Personal opinion. I can't come to grips with an auto and a live round in the barrel.ie my Glock 27. So I went to Colt Detective special

One of Star's guns won some kind of award back in 1996 when I turned 21 and bought my first 1911 (it was a Colt).

I've got six Star pistols now, looking for #7. I can usually run rings around the locals with the race guns with my old, beat up model "A" in 9mm. It just seems to fit my paw for some reason. My "B"s and "Super B"s are stone reliable, never misfeed and group as well or better than most military pistols I've handled. And check into "Sociad de Largo" for parts and ammo leads for the Largo parts if you go that route.

I had a Star PD for quite a while and now I miss it and would like to find another one at a gun show, this time in the stainless or nickel, whatever it was. Every gun writer seemed to like this gun, the only rap against it being that it had a shock buffer which supposedly needed to be changed out every 200 rounds. I used Pachmayr grips on mine and it was very enjoyable to shoot -- I also had the hammer partially bobbed for less snag on the draw from clothing. They sold for only about $329 new, as I recall. I admit to some curiosity about the Taurus PT145 Millenium, by the way.
