Regarding Sheriff of Cochise

Offeror: In your earlier post you mentioned that Michael Ansara played the sheriff. I believe you might be mistaken. We didn't get to watch much TV (bad influence according to our parents)so I could be all wet , but I think Broderick Crawford starred in that show. Until the realities of life took over, one of my goals was to have a carbine mounted inside the door of my car. Never happened! Ansara played Cochise in a show, the name escapes me at the moment, that took place on a reservation with a character name Tom Jeffords as the Indian agent. Rumor had it at the time that Ansara was some relation to Cochise, how valid it was I have not a clue, but it sure made it seem more interesting. Oh, and regarding the picture of the Rifleman Rifle, I wish I had a dime for every time I or my brothers pinched our fingers between the trigger and the stud that tripped the trigger. Can you imagine the law suits and other nonsense that would cause in todays crazy world?

John Bromfield starred as Sheriff Frank Morgan in Sheriff of Cochise. Aired from 1956 thru 1958.

If these old bones remember correctly, Michael Ansara had a TV series called Broken Arrow around 1956. He played Cochise. I suppose it was a spinoff of the movie made in 1950 with Jimmy Stewart(Tom Jefords), Jeff Chandler(Cochise) and Arthur Hunnicut(played some old fart). Arthur Hunnicut was my favorite. Any movie with him in it was great.

I'm glad this has all generated so much interest. Right now, there are FOUR Rifleman rifles for sale on eBay from good to excellent condition -- all of which will probably go to $100 or more depending. If I had one, I'd hang it on the wall, so no pinched fingers for me anymore. I'd be afraid of breaking the darn thing. As for Ansara, I'm no doubt wrong about Sheriff of Coshise, but the gentleman (not me) who said that was the show where the star gets out of the car and a carbine is attached to the door panel was correct. Broderick Crawford appeared in either M SQUAD or HIGHWAY PATROL, or both, but not SHERIFF OF COCHISE. Ansara, of course, also played Quarlo in THE OUTER LIMITS, the soldier from the future...
