I've been busy with no "play" time for this, my favorite little cyber spot and the folks that gather here. Deer season was wild, found the land (180 acres)we had been hunting for the last 16 years and had written permission for the 2001 season, POSTED! Turns out the neighbors nephew decided he and his buds were going to hunt it so they posted it, put stands up and started baiting the Deer with corn! We, my 14 year old Daughter and I were hunting opening morning and she had just taken a Buck. And this guy comes DRIVING down the abandoned RR tracks. Asking what we thought we were doing on his property! I told him calling the law about his trespassing. After about 15 minutes he finally decided it was not his land, that it was indeed best if he changed his plans and hunted his uncles adjoining 1600+ acres . I can't count the times I've stood at the corner fence looking out over those canyons of his Uncles and had to turn and walk away because he would not give anyone permission to hunt.Oh well, we filled our tags with 3 nice fat (corn fed ) Deer. The Buck I shot the next day stopped after being spooked, at about 175 yards in a large Winter Wheat field. Shooting offhand, I took the high percentage shot into his chest. He ran, came to a halt and was dying, his head dropping slowly. I had never seen this before and did not much care for it, so put a second shot into his head, he dropped. My steps to him counted 247. I wish I could take credit for that 2nd shot but feel mercy guided its way. I hope everyone here has a Great Christmas with lots of Gun stuff goodies under the tree.

Nice ta see ya back again. Congrats on yer deer, bummer about the land being posted. We "lost" some the same way a few years back. Sucks.Don't feel too bad about the way the deer was expiring; he was probably just slowly losing conciousness, more than likely not really suffering.
