I've been thinking about getting one of these. Are they hard to get? What is the cost? What are the positives of owning one? What are the negatives?

Fill out the ATF form and send them $30.00. Also send a copy of the form to your local LEO - the form explains who to send it too and you just need contact your local police office to find out who to send it too.Wait anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks and you will have a C&R license.

Where do I get the form? I normally don't hang out at the local ATF office.

The form can be downloaded and printed out from the BATF web site http://www.atf.treas.gov/forms/pdfs/print2.htm This is a pdf format file. you will need to Dl it to a dir on your hard drive. then open it with acrobat. Before printing make sure you change it to "fit page" in printer set up.

I have had mine now for about 6 months, it really comes in handy if you are a collector. It took me 5 weeks to recive mine after I filled out the paper work.
