What's your take on this North American Hunting club I keep receiving stuff in the mail from?

I'm a life Member, have been for 6-7 years. Pretty fair magazine, lots of club benefits and hunting swaps available. They do tend to push their mechandise, books, tapes, etc....but will stop if asked. Never have gotten to be a tester of new products like they said....

Been a life member for a few years, myself. It's OK, I like the magazine and I wear the leather jacket almost year round. I have heard lots of stories on the Net from guys complaining about getting unordered merchandise, etc., from the Club and having to pay shipping to return it. Never happened to me, though.Rembrandt -You have to fill out a form (found in each magazine) in order to be in the running to test stuff. I know that lots of folks are under the impression that merely being a member gets you a shot at it. Not sure if you knew that or not.

I did not renew my membership, because I was disgusted with how they handled a misunderstanding.I was a member for eight years, and I was never asked to test any of the equipment they send to members to test.I finally received a letter saying that I was picked to field test a muzzleloading rifle. Well Alright!! My dues finally paid off. I was told I would be receiving the rifle shortly. 'Bout a month later, I receive a package of glow in the dark tree tacks. A couple of days after that, I receive a letter saying I received a letter saying I was testing the muzzleloader BY MISTAKE, and I will be testing tree tacks instead. I wrote a letter asking how they made this mistake, and would like to have some type of explanation as to why I was told I was going to test drive a rifle, and then it was changed to a pack of tree tacks. They sent me a post card saying they would contact me about the error, but I never heard from them. 6 months later it is renewal time, ands I told them I would not renew because I never received an explanation about the field test error. Felt like I was subjected to a bait and switch. Lets face it- a $600 rifle reduced to $2.99 tree tacks-I think I was at least entitled to an explanation.

Got one membership...did not renew...too....way too much advertising not much substance.Have again for last month had my mail box filled with subscription forms and funky little things to go on your zipper of yourcoat, parka, whatever......Lots of better mags out there for the money.....After reading some of the above posts, I was to test something or another too, got changedto something else too...just as forgetable...

I am a life member and the only thing i ever got to test was some marinade sauce. i do like the mag. though and if i was younger would prbably take advantage of some of the swap hunts or the discount member hunts. they also offer some pretty fair deals on merchandise. CARL

Like I have said before, both here and at another site, this is really strange. I hear so many complaints about the Club constantly sending stuff to the members. They must not like me or something, because I get literally nothing other than the magazine from them. I even kept, and paid for, two of their cookbooks they sent me a few years ago. You would think that doing that would have gotten me on a "sucker" list if anything would. Don't get me wrong, here. I'm glad that I am not constantly getting stuff in the mail from them. Seems wierd that I am apparently the only one, though.Oh well.

By the way, those books that are only available through the NAHC,only for NAHC members, that are upward of twenty dollars?- Saw several of them in the bargain book bin at a local book store for $3.00

Complaining about getting UNORDERED mechandise? Not in this lifetime. If the junk comes to my house UNORDERED, bubba it's mine! Do not return, do not look back an thats a fact, JACK!

IB -I think that you are correct on that. I've always been under the impression that you are under no obligation to return, pay for, or even acknowledge receiving merchandise that you didn't order. If I get something in the mail that I didn't order, I generally return it, if return postage is prepaid by the sender, but that is simply my choice. I won't pay to return stuff that I didn't order, however. Even I draw the line on that.
