Got a question for you in the "What grain for whitetails" thread. Wasn't sure if you would see it or not, but figured that this would catch yer eye. Take a look when ya got time. Thanks.

Did you get it yet. Seems like I mailed it a month ago though it has probably only been a week or so.

Over the years I have had a series of bad experiences with Federal Ammo. 1st. When I had a shot at a perfect crossing double, I also had a Federal squib load 2nd. Could not shoot the best whitetail I had seen in years because the Federal cartridge did not have a flash hole, jammed up good and couldn't even recycle the action for a follow up 3rd. Lost an IPSC match when I had 3 failures to eject (those sure eat up a lot of time). The rims on the Federal ammo I was using were oversized and varied by over .007"

These all occured over a 15 year period, the last in 1982. I haven't shot ANYTHING made by Federal since but that might change as a friend just gave me a case of Federal 20 ga. I will keep you posted on how good (or bad) they are.

Thanks fer the reply. I had kinda figured that it had to be something along those lines. Sorta like the guy who has bad luck with a Ford will never own another, and his neighbor next door once had a piece o' crap Chevy and now won't own anything but Fords!

I had heard of Federal having quality control problems since I first started shooting back in the 60's. I wonder if some of that bad reputation is no longer deserved? All I know is, I probably shoot more Federal stuff, shotshells and centerfire, than any other brand, and I seriously can't remember a single failure. 'Course, I could just be lucky, too.

Ah well, to each his own, huh?
