I must take exception to your recent posting as regards chili.

Nowhere in your recipe do I see tomatoes or tomato sauce! Good Lord, man, how can you have chili without those vital ingredients?!? (Other than that, your recipe sounded pretty dang good, though!)

    .280 - TOMATERS!!! IN CHILI???
Rank heresy. You can put 'em in a mid-west concoction I call chili soup but true chili gets neither tomatoes nor beans.

Oh, man, I can't believe I forgot to mention the beans! In my neck of the woods, chili is a pretty simple dish - brown some burger, throw in a can of stewed tomatoes, a can of tomato sauce, a can of kidney beans, a can of chili beans, chili powder to taste, maybe a can of beer, simmer, eat. Dang near as good as Hormels!

(I knew that you southern boys prefer yer chili without them thangs, thought I'd have a touch of fun with ya!)

Well, ya know, ya gotta remember, up here the population is mostly Norwegians and Germans. We ain't exactly the gastronomical capitol of the world. We eat things like lutefisk with a side order of sauerkraut, so a can of dog food with chili powder added would be almost a delicacy to us!

Yer right, I was in a bit of a hurry when I made that post and the onions were accidentally left out.

I bet we could raise some eyebrows if we told 'em that we also like to put shredded cheddar cheese and a large dollop of sour cream on top of the bowl of chili!

.280 - if you are going to do something as UGLY as putting cheese or SOUR CREAM??? on chili, you might as well make the chili out of lutefisk!

I am from Texas. Texas chili has neither tomatoes nor beans. A really good grade of ground beef, onions, peppers, and spices. There is nothing better to warm you up on those blustery winter 60-degree days.

Plus, you can clean an engine with it in a pinch.

    .280 - Post your recipe here http://members.aol.com/_ht_b/royisaksen/myhomepage/
Sound guy- it is OK to put chili over rice as an economical way to stretch it when trapped in a blue norther and unable to get more peppers. But

Just spent some time wandering around those sites. Never realized that there were sites like that devoted to lutefisk.

Still don't know WHY there would be sites devoted to lutefisk, though!

How did you happen to come across these, you a closet Norskie?

Mom is full blooded German, my Dad was full blooded Norwegian. Guess that explains my sometimes bullheaded stupidity, huh?
