Black Powder

Just saw a thread on black powder over in the "ask the experts" side. Every replier recommended either Pyrodex or Clean Shot -- none recommended black powder. At one time, I was an avid black powder competitive shooter, but I have been out of the muzzleloading loop for quiet a while. Has everyone converted and gotten away from black powder? Is it still difficult to get? And most important; do competitive shooting organizations allow Pyrodex and Clean Shot for competitive events?
