Gonna try to tell another Cajun joke. This one is guaranteed to be better than my last one.

(Borrowed from another site)

Boudreaux once spent days looking for his new hat dat he done lost. Finally, he decide dat if he go to church on Sunday an sit at da back, during da service he could sneak out an grab a hat from da rack at da front door. So, on da following Sunday, Boudreaux went to Church an sat at da back. Da sermon was about da Ten Commanments.

He sat through da whole sermon an instead of sneaking out, he wait til da preaching was over an went to talk to da priest. "Fadar Pierre", Boudreaux say, "I come here today to steal a hat to replace da one dat I lost. But you sermon on da Ten Commanments make me change my mind, yea".

Fadar Pierre he say, "Bless you, my son. Was it wen I start to preach dou shall not steal, dat change you mind?"

Boudreaux say, "Mais non, it was da one on adultry. Wen you start to preach on dat, I remember where I left dat hat!"

    Thats a great one .280 .
Hey - what is the best bullet weight for a .280 (your opinion), I have a Ruger #1 and a Guatemalian Mauser in .280. I like to use the 150-160g v-max, but have loaded lighter for varmit

    Blue Tic -

Back when I was still handloading, I liked the Hornady 162 gr BTSP on top of 55.5 gr of H4831. Very accurate load in my gun. When I switched to all factory loads, I started using Federal Classics with the 150 gr bullet. Devastating to any deer from 40 feet to 400 yards. I've had a lot of people tell me that I should switch to 140 gr, that 150 is too heavy for the .280, but I have taken many, many deer with the 150 gr load, and have supreme confidence in it. Your gun might prefer something different, obviously, but these are what have worked well for me.

Yeah - I use H4831. My best for the Ruger is 54.5 and have not worked up the Mauser's yet, but now I'll need to keep seperate sets of fireformed cases. Dang - but it is one of the best cal. going!!

    I hear that!

It's funny, ya know, when you look up the ballistics, there shouldn't be a nickle's worth of difference between the .270, .280, and 30-06. But for a round that is accurate, easy on the shoulder (and wallet!), and hard hitting, it's the one that heads out the door with me about 95 percent of the time (for deer hunting, that is, although I also enjoy shooting it just for the fun of it).

Thanks. I liked it, myself, when I saw it over at www.Huntamerica.com, and decided to "borrow" it and post it here.

If you've never been to that site, you should check it out, large site, mostly real good folks there. I go by the name of "Clem" there.
