I am looking for a place in Maryland that I can shoot rifles and shotgun to get them zeroed in. I do not want to join a club because I can not afford it, just the range time. I live between Baltimore and Washington area. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Spec.4

If you feel like driving to Fairfax, Va., I would reccomend the NRA range if you are a member. They will let you shoot your shotgun with a slug round, too. The only problem is that it's only a 50 yard range. If you don't mind a little longer drive, Clark Brothers in Warrenton, Va. has a 100 yard outdoor range, with pistol and shotgun clays areas. No charge as long as you buy your ammo there. If anyone knows of any others, I'm interested in learning of them.

wE LIVE VERY NEAR ONE ANOTHER BY YOUR DESCRIPTION. I USE THE NRA RANGE MYSELF, THE PRIVATE CLUB IN ROCKVILLE IS WAAAAAYYYY TO EXPENSIVE- AND YOU HAVE TO USE ONLY THEIR AMMO. THEIR ONLY "PLUS" AS I SEE IT IS THE ABILITY TO RENT CLASS 3 FIREARMS THERE. I HEAR FROM THE GUN RACK, A SHOP ON OLD COLUMBIA PIKE, THAT THERE IS A VERY NICE OPEN FIELD PRIVATE RANGE WHERE THE OWNER WILL LET YOU SHOOT HIS 50 BMG RIFLE FREE IF YOU JOIN. I WILL BE GETTING THE NAME OF THAT PLACE NEXT OPPORTUNITY.CARL

There is a public range in Frederick. I can't recall the name right this second. You also can shoot shotgun over on Good Luck rd in PG county at PG Trap & skeet. There is a Club range in Marriotsville & I beleive the membership is $35. There are plenty of places to go. RG

Clark Bros. won't let you use the range if you bring your own ammo, unless it is handloads and you bought the components or equipment there. The ammo they sell is just a little bit more expensive than everywhere else, but free range time! Example: 50 rd. box of .40s&w sells for about $11 most places, Clark would probably have it for $12 or $13. I mostly shoot .22 there, so the difference on that is minimal.I have heard of a range called Maryland Small Arms over towards PG county. If anyone knows where I can sight in a rifle at more than 100 yards, please let me know. Also, are there contact numbers or information for these private fields and clubs mentioned here? I know the Isaac Walton League has a range in Montgomery county, but they price themselves out of my market.

A few weeks ago, I heard of this renge in Glen Burnie. They are an indoor pistol range with what look like reasonable prices, and supposedly let you rent submachine guns! www.selectfire.com. I haven't tried it yet, but if I can rent an MP-5, you can bet I will.
