If you only had one gun what would it be?

If for some reason you could only have one of your guns, and had to give all the rest up, but you could keep just one, which one would it be?

S&W Model 2902, 44 Magnum with 6" barrel and lots of ammo. Easy to carry, good to 100 yards with iron sights, adequate for any use and it never has a mechanical problem.

Cannot even type or read this morning, the S&W is a 29-2 not 2902; of course you all caught that already!

Since you can't legally carry here, I would have to keep my AR-15. And when you all decide which one you want to keep, please send the rest to me.

my preban colt AR15. versatile enough you could have a 16" M4 upper and a colapsible stock for those close combat situations. And still be able to shoot out to 200+ yards accurately. Easy take down and clean up.
I spent all my money on guns, women, and beer. The rest I just wasted.wiredog70@hotmail.com

Stakeout,(Ithaca 12 ga, model 37, pump, pistol grip,12" barrel.) Takes care of most home protection cases with no increase in jail space needed. Can be used to hunt with with a little practice.(One guy i let shoot it could even hit skeet with it. go figure)

I'd have a tough time deciding between my Glock 17 with its 19 round magazines or my pre-ban AR-15.To keep a low profile I would probably go with the Glock, although it's not much of a long-range weapon.

I'd take the Remmington 742 30.06 that my pops gave me.With it, I can peck off just about everyone else from a respectable distance and loot all the guns off their corpses. :-)

I would also go with an Ithac 37 12 guage. However, I would opt with a regular longer stock, and a 26 or 28 inch barrel.

Amen on that Ithaca 37: With a cyl or I/C barrel I can get all the venison and rabbit I can eat and for home protection a 3" load of #1 buck (24 pellets) is like having a machinegun that fires 24 aimed shots with one pull on the trigger.

Colt-Sauer drilling in 12x12x.30-06. All the advantages of a shotgun with the ability to reach out and touch when well beyond shotgun range. Beach

Most things hunted in this state are done with a shotgun....so I'd have to go with a 12gauge semi-auto, (Browning A5 or Benelli Black Eagle)...can get me birds, squirrels, rabbits, deer, and intruders.....then tie a string to the barrel and go fishing.

I'm with "bfair" ... I think I'd go with my Winchester Model 94, too. They are sure nice handling rifles and pretty, too. Only mine is a .356 calibre. Sure wish I had a used Annie Oakley to go with it. Then I'd be ready for fun plinking and serious big game.

WAIT WAIT!!!What would be the purpose of this gun? If it will be used for hunting, a Rem700PSS will do. If it will be used for hunting heads, the PSS will do too! For personal defense, an HK will just about be right. But if youre thinking of using it to hunt down.........................................say a 24'MACK truck or bigger , well....whoever posted that 50bmg is on the right track. sheeeeeeeesh.-Smooth

After a long consideration, I think I will have to go with the M-109A6 Paladin.Air-conditioned, quick, 30km range, SADARM capable, and one mean-* piece of equipment...

My Pre-ban AR15. Although it's just "one gun", it can be adapted to shoot from .22 long rifle to .50 BMG. And configured in several interesting ways. Not to mention the flare launcher option.

I'll have to go with boeboe and a few others that have favored their pre-ban AR-15's. However, Redleg's Paladin is one awesome piece. I've seen what it can do and that piece of equipment was the very reason why artillery was my second job of choice after the military police corps when I enlisted. I wonder where I'd be today if I was a redleg.

I can see the point of all the other posts, but I think some thought should be given to the lowly, but versatile, .22. You can shoot small game for the table, hone your shooting skills, defend your home, and stockpile enough ammo at a cheap price to give most Democrats a heart attack.

For all 'round I think I'd have to go with my pre-ban AR-15. It's scoped so I can "reach out" pretty good. It's collapsible so it's manueverable inside. I've got the .22 conversion kit. The sound of the bolt slamming shut is enough to send most "goblins" packing and if all else fails... there's this little lever on the side......."rock 'n roll"Does Mrs. Mudge get one too?Mudge

Have to go w/ an 870. Meat of all types and self defense. Give something away after 50 yds, but all purpose, yeah, unquestionably. And where I live, 50 yds is usually a long shot.

I would have to go with a Desert Eagle in 44 mag. Could hunt, defend, carry, conceal, and hit someone over the head with if need be. Accurate, reliable, hard to break, easy to clean, easy to reload for, plenty of brass and bullets and powders.
