A sight adjustment tool is necessary unless you can use a non-marring punch or wooden dowel. Look at the base of the sight and you'll notice a pin through the base (been a few years, don't remember exactly how it looks) the pin moves the blade L&R. This is your windage adj. If you're hitting your target you don't need to move it. The tool is a "C" clamp looking affair and can be found for around $10 in most of the gun supply catalogs or shops. My local dealer had one and let me use it. I figure you can use a punch and hammer without hurting it, but don't really recommend it unless it is impossible to find the tool. Move the blade in the opposite direction from your bullet strike to adj. windage.

I had the a problem adjusting my SAR-1 sights as well and after all the adjustments were made, the front sight post was waaaay to one side, another alternative I was turned on to was the RPK rear sights sold by (SARCO?, mebbe TAPCO, I saw these again recently in the Shotgun News). They are the same dimensionally as the rear sight of an AK, but has a windage adjustment. Be wary of the ones sold over the net for the most part they are plastic, these are not.
