I regards to an earlier post regarding CMP Garands, I was wondering if someone could lay out all of the steps it would take to go through this process and obtain a rifle and ammo. I have looked at the CMP website and am still unclear on how it works- I really want the plain language version. Thanks Guys!

Beachmaster would be the pro on that subject, but I believe that you just participate in one of their matches, get a slip of paper saying you participated, and then mail the paper, payment and FFL to them.

    1. You must be a US citizen and provide proof.2. You must be a member of a CMP affiliated club. (your state association should be.)3. You must fire at least 50 rounds in a CMP approved match (score doesn't matter) or be exempt. Exmptions are military or former military, current or retired law enforcement, over 60 years old. There are several others you can find on the instructions for purchase from CMP.4. Complete the CMP application and purchase certificate and have it notarized.5. Send the notarized application and proof of 1,2, and 3 along with payment.6. Wait for the FedEx truck to show up at your door. You can download the application packet at the CMP web site or call them at (888) 267-2141 and they will send you a packet.
