Do you have a laptop modem setup in yer rig or what?? If so what type? This applies to anyone else having anything other than a desktop PC.

No I use overpriced internet stations in the truckstops to "play" while I'm on the road. Wish I had a laptop, it would pay for itself in the longrun.

BEST investment for a tool was my laptop.Didn't have cellular back then, so used Park-n-view for a phoneline(Local phone)plus Juno to send and receive emails.Plus no more "breaking for local info" on my little bitty radio. Got a mapping program that keeps me on time to where I need to be and keeps my logbook out of problems.I know just how far point a is from point b and how long it should take. Not sure I could even drive without it anymore. Last paper map I bought was in '97. It's still in the truck, and getting a little ragged from all the bouncing, but don't use it much anymore. Still don't surf the net while I am out, since cellular isn't all that cheap on a nationwide program. If I had to choose between my cellphone and my laptop, well, where is that payphone at?

A laptop (mine's a Sony) and a nationwide internet provider with an 800 # or a cellphone with the right cord to allow access from anywhere is great. Cellular companies usually offer the cord, but they want to charge you for the service. Some of the cords can be got at RADIO Shack. Still a little pricy on the per minute deal, but great if you just gotta have it for a minute or two.I just changed phones, my last one got thrown onto the floor one too many times, so i haven't gotten the cord yet.
