I am sure that this has come up before, but was wondering how everyone cleans their individual firearms? What oils, pads and other cleaning solutions do you use?

I just use all Hoppes stuff. It seems to work fairly well. I'd like to know the answer to this question, too, and if there are better alternatives.

Somebody here on gb posted this not too long ago, I havent tried it yet but it sounds like a good idea to use before scrubbing, http://www.storm.ca/~debin666/html/projects9.html If somebody has or is planning on trying it let me know the results.

Well, I haven't run tests personally, but after Gun Tests did a report on it, I changed from Hoppes to Shooter's Choice. Supposed to work better, but I think I might change back to Hoppes, because Shooter's Choice don't smell as purty.

G96 complete gun treatment Its the best Ive come across. Its hard to find when I do I buy a case or two. I usually spray then clean the next day. For stuborn spots that dont wipe I use that yellow cloth like material to clean cyl on wheel guns.Kidd
Wheel guns Rule but Machine-guns Rock-N-Roll

.250savage, the shooters choice is way better!!! I use the hoppes on pistols only because I have an aversion to wasting what I had left over. The shooters choice will pull crap from the barrel you can't imagine. Patches turn bright green in minutes. It also doesn't leave the rifling looking "dry" after storage for a period. Just my .02

First I run Hoppes down the barrel, let soak, run a Hoppes saturated brush down barrel and back 5 times, then run another saturated patch of Hoppes down barrel.Followed by 3-4 dry patches until patch comes out dry.Next,I run a saturated patch of Sweets 7.62 down the barrel to loosen the copper fouling, let sit for 5 minutes then run a Sweets soaked brush up and down barrel a couple of times followed by a patch soaked with Sweets, then several dry patches. Finally all that is left is to run a couple of saturated patches of Breakfree CLP,if I am not shooting for a while I leave the CLP in the barrel but if I am shooting soon after I will run some dry patches through after the CLP. At this point the barrel is sparkly clean, however after every 100 or so rounds I talso take an old brush, wrap it with a patch, coat with a good bore paste, and run it up and down the barrel 5-10 times without letting it exit the muzzle end.Follow up with CLP to remove remaining paste, this will get those last pieces of copper fouling that fill in the rifleing. OH and then I have a beer.

I use Butch'e Bore Cleaner, put a movie on the video and get them shiney and bright. finish up with a little rem oil in the bore and Sheath on the outside.

7MM- I tried that Electro-bore cleaner deal on two of my .30 cal rifles, used an old M-16 cleaning rod. HOLY CRAP! Worked like a charm! The only modification I made to the posted information was to cut up a plastic milk jug and made an oversized cone that over the muzzle to hold extra ammonia, enough to last for a 1 hr cleaning.Just a word on ammonia though- IT CAN RUIN YOUR FINISH IS NOT CLEANED UP IMMEDIATLY.For my regular cleaning I use Shooter's Choice and/or Hoppes #9, just depends on how much I've shot and what I'm cleaning-the Shooter's seems to like to eat nickle finishes a lot worse than Hoppe's. I never, never, never use CLP. that stuff just holds water and sweats. A light coat of 3-in-1 oil, machinist's 10 wieght, or Hoppe's gun oil is good for storage, although for long term storage, a dry lude like REM-Lube is better. (I've even used Horandy's One-Shot case sizing lube in a pinch, worked just fine)
