Stolen in Hawaii

Just found out that my aunt and cousin (who are visiting Hawaii with their spouses) had their purses stolen. They were gone from the van for 7 minutes. In 7 minutes they lost the plane tickets for 5 people, debit cards, credit cards, checks, drivers license, etc. Don't know all the details yet. Just watch your wallets and purses if you are traveling this holiday season.

My buddy says it's all changing over there. 40% of the high school kids are hooked on Batu, what ever that is. Our common friend has a car locked up like Fort Knox. It's the drugs, no jobs. Welfare is the second or third biggest industry.

    Quail,
Not to knock your aunt, but ANYONE who lets their tickets and credit cards out of their sight while they travel is just plain stupid.

Merc (who even takes his stuff into the shower when he travels.....after finding someone in his room when he was showering!)

That's what I thought too, but right now is not the time to tell that hot headed red head that she screwed up. Hope she learns from this mistake!

7 seconds or less it all they need.
At 7 min it's wonder they just didn't take van too.

Having lived in Hawaii for 3 years I can tell you that Tourist Purse Snatching and Robbery is an honorable profession in the Islands

all too common here. Our gun club did a highway cleanup project near one of the popular tourist attractions, and we found about 30 wallets that had been ditched in the bushes after being stripped of valuables.
Leaving anything of value in your car is dumb, tourist or local.
I have 5 separate safes in my van to deal with these realities.

First thing the car rental agency told us when we went to Hawaii this year is to not leave valuables in the car. They said its very common for cars to get broken into when your out on hikes or on the beach. They crooks prey on tourists there almost as bad as the cops in Tijuana do.

I was told the same thing. The agency also recommended not to even lock the car since it would just get broken into.
