ammo ID help

just pickeup 250 rounds of 30-06 ammo,head stamp is FA 52.bullet has a black tip,someone thought it might be armour piercing,bullet also has a canalure about 1/8 inch above case neck.anybody on here got any ideas? thanks

USGI AP, non-corrosive primer. Probably early 50's vintage.

I believe what you have was pretty much the standard issue 30-06 round for riflemen during the WWII-Korea period.

I think the changeover by the different USGI manufacturers to noncorrosive took place during '51 and '52. Not sure exactly when Frankford made the switch.

Frankford Arsenal switched to noncorrosive primers in their AP .30 cal in October 1951. Your 52 vintage is noncorrosive.
