Expensive Hobbies

It must be nice to be able to afford some of these expensive hobbies. These guys have restored a WW-I U-boat engine. The son of a gun is almost a hundred years old and again runs like a charm. Ya gotta give those krauts their due. They know how to build nice machines.

The German Diesels are the best! The old five cylinder(Mercedes) was one of the best for longevity...[;)]
Still running strong in mine.

Bow many miles ,Barz...????? My Dr. had a 240 Mercedes with 350,000 miles and only changed the oil...
Flying, sailboating, and deep sea fishing are REALLY expensive.

Just the forum part has gotten a little spendy.
That's just a cheap hobby, now if you want an expensive one how about restoring a P-38 back to flying status:

The P38 has always been my favorite aircraft since I was a kid.
I have had numerous plastic models of them over the years and even built one from a kit with balsa wood and tissue paper.
The balsa wood one actually flew, but only had one engine a Cox .049.
Tethered flight with control lines to the plane. Get dizzy just thinking about it. Crashed it until it couldn't be repaired.
Still have a model kit that's never been opened, waiting for that one day when I have nothing else to do and I'm not busy reloading.

The P-38 has always been a favorite in my family. My Grandfather was on the design team as well as many of the modifications that was made during the war. My Grandmother worked in the cowling shop during the war and that is where my grandparents met. So if it wasn't for the P-38 my Grandparents would have never met and I would have never been born.
